Doak

Impressed with the lad, and he's going to get better the more game time he gets. Could be the best signing of a very good summer window.

Before I wet the bed, do we have a option to buy at the end of his deal? Or does he go back to Liverpool vastly improved and a few million on his price tag.

😳😳

He was already worth a fortune before he came here on loan. We could never have afforded him and no buy-back.

He's firmly in Liverpool's future plans.

No option to buy sadly. Think he is thought of very highly at Liverpool but they have sent him out on loan to get game time after a knee injury kept him out of a lot of last season.

Unless we go up he would be well out of our budget I reckon.

I would say the best we could hope for..... Is another season of he impresses and gets plenty of game time. At some point Liverpool will want to look at him to see if he is going to make their level.... At 18.... We could get two seasons and he could get 60 first team matches.... Works fair all parties....I would say there is no chance of a transfer even if we go up!

He's only 18 and with very high potential. No chance would Liverpool be looking to sell him just yet. He could be worth £80m+ (£100m if Chelsea are interested) in 2 years time.

Might have a chance if he gets to 21/22 and hasn't really kicked on for some reason.

He's valued at £10m on Transfermarkt which I believe is undervaluing him if anything, Liverpool think very highly of him and he's set for their first team in the future

Yeah Transfermrkt is way off with young players. It has Hackney valued at £7m and Rav at £4m.

I think Doak could be anywhere between £20m and £40m already.

Read a couple of articles just before we signed him stating Liverpool were open to a loan/sale of him and Bobby Clark (I think) - two very highly rated youngsters.

Wouldn't be surprised if we have first dabs to buy as part of the deal......but it will very much be in the Archer ballpark, and if we don't get promoted, forget it. Fee around the £15-20m mark wouldn't be far off.

Or am I grasping more straws than a w*nking scarecrow? 😭😭😭

There were definitely articles that said Liverpool are open to selling Doak... so you're not totally grasping at straws.

However, I think it would be based on if we got promoted, as the fee would probably be at least £15 million.

As a signing looks effective as Archer was to our team performance.

He needs to avoid injury though to have a big impact this season.

With Jones and now Forss waiting to get that RM spot, he should hopefully be able to be managed.

Not going to help anyone if he's playing every game, midweek, Scotland internationals. He will be bolloxed by March.

Shows how strong our squad is, load of options to cover him

I've been impressed with how strong he is on the ball. He's a bit like a young Wayne Rooney with a turbo button (though people tend to forget that young Rooney was pretty fast). Obviously nowhere near the goal threat of Rooney but he can carry the ball at pace.

He also is straight back trying to win the ball when he loses it, not just sulking and blaming others. Workrate is excellent.

Does need to work on his gamesmanship - he got clear of a defender, cut across him in the box, keeper came out well to narrow the angle - if he'd have just slowed down the defender could have done nothing but clatter into the back of him, blatant penna and at least a booking. He kept on his feet and got the shot off, was a difficult chance as the keeper did well. Bit of sh*thousery and it's a penna.......

I've been impressed so far. A throw back to the old school wingers. It's refreshing these days.

I'm sure it will be coached out of him over time.

I look at Hamilton. He's clearly been heavily coached at City as to what Pep wants. He's been with them since he was 11. Doesn't know any other way. I think it will take time to adjust.

Where as Doak is young a raw. Also pretty limited game time. Hopefully we don't go overboard with him. The hype from sky was bad enough.

He's 18. He will have dips and form and highly unlikely to be nailed on first choice. It's a long season and Forss and Jones would mean we could rotate.

That said wish we'd signed him with a buy back for Liverpool. Similar deal to the Hamilton one.

I know we couldn’t afford him unless we went up and in an ideal world Liverpool wouldn’t want to sell, but given how financial fair play (or whatever it’s called these days) has worked the big clubs have been keen to sell home grown players. Don’t know whether Doak fits that category having come from Celtic originally?

It’s not about being homegrown, it’s just the cost vs the selling price. I’d guess they don’t pay much for him, so any sale would be largely profit with regards to PSR.

He had a serious knee injury, so I reckon that’s been part of the decision to get him a full season under his belt for fitness and test his rehabilitation.

As much as I rate him I don’t think he’ll be in the Liverpool first team squad for a couple if not more seasons.

Salah could well be off in the summer so they’ll be looking for an immediate replacement.

Even the likes of Elliot and Jones seem to be squad players at the moment and they’ve been on the scene a few seasons now.
