Are people who adore animals and still eating them just hypocrites at heart ?
(I’m thinking about people like the horse loving community who adore their animals and go away and tuck into a juicy (cows fresh killed flesh) steak)
Is it that form of hypocritical compartmentalisation that, when you think about it, is incredibly bizarre of people who claim to love their animals or pets ?

Because how can you claim to love them and are happy to see them slaughtered

I wouldn't say I'm an animal lover, but it felt wrong to me that animals should die just so I could eat them, especially when I don't need animal flesh in my diet to stay alive. Which is why I stopped eating them years ago.

Mind, I still consume dairy, so am in no position to preach to others. The dairy industry is inherently cruel.

People are strange about meat, my girlfriend was telling me that someone at work told her that a bird of prey swooped down into their garden, killed a pigeon and then took it apart over the next day or so. She said it ruined her week seeing something so awful.

If you’re bothered about an animal doing what it naturally does to survive then why are you alright with chickens and cows getting lined up to be slaughtered just for you to eat?

There is no seperation between the two and if there is seperation you are saying that the animals you eat don`t matter and you get pleasure from the animals that are killed to feed you

I am not but I also do not profess to be an animal lover and if I had to I would kill an animal for food.

I do rarely eat meat but that’s for environmental reasons not because I love animals. I’ve just been on holiday for a week which is when I usually consume the most meat, I had salmon twice for breakfast.

This makes no sense at all. How many animals do you know that are animal lovers? They do it to survive and it’s what their instincts tell them to do.

My girlfriend is a vegetarian and has been since she was 12 but if our Greyhound caught a Rabbit and killed it she wouldn’t be bothered, she knows that’s her natural prey drive to kill small fluffy animals.

But, they generally eat other animals for sustenance - no alternative. They don’t eat themselves by the way. That would be silly
Further, they don’t have the emotional intelligence of humans.

Neither is better but I suppose if you can realise you are one you are at the start of your journey to redemption.

There's 2 types of animals. The ones I like eating e.g chickens and the ones I like stroking e.g cute kittens. Lambs are a confusing outlier in this system, I love to see them in the country but they're bloody lovely with a bit of gravy and mint sauce.
