On the back of some of the horrendous events of the last few decades...and in general throughout humanity....
I have to say I was brought up as a Christian...by 12 or 13 that had gone and I became neutral

By 40 I was atheist
Strongly atheist
But weirdly....I have had some experiences that are of a spiritual nature which has left me thinking....there is no god but the soul goes to somewhere and becomes something else...a different energy.
That may sound weird being an atheist but feeling spiritual
But what great creator would make something capable of child abuse ...murder....rape.....etc...genocide....why...?
You just wouldn't do that unless you yourself were evil
So I'll settle with evolution over billions of years into the loathsome freaks some of us are now...and rhat energy literally cannot die..but be converted.
Other than that....UTFB

I'd pretty much figured out it was all a load of bunkum by the time I was about 8. I also figured out quite quickly not to tell adults about the conclusion I had reached, particularly the ones at the Catholic schools I attended or at the church where I was an alter boy! At 16 my parents pretty much said "up to you" on the whole matter!

A dyslexic , agnostic , insomniac lay awake all night wondering if there was a dog .

I don’t believe in god in terms of the various possibilities offered up to us, although I am pleased many genuine people have a faith that helps them in life, amongst all the troubles that man has created over the years.

If god had really existed in those various forms he would be a pretty bad god given all the fighting and poor behavious around the globe, past and present.

I like the idea, I have faith in the origins of religions for good and peace, but I believe religion to have been hijacked as a tool by shameful people to control the masses through fear and oppression in many parts of our planet as time has gone on. In some cases I think it is used by powerful groups of people as a cover for basic criminality too.

I can believe there may be something, but I don't pretend to know what.

I don't assume that it anything fundamentally good, or that it would care much about anything on our planet.

Lots of reasons for not beliving in god given are all to do with the actions of humans.

Apparently we all started with a big bang- but who or what put the big bang there? Some scientists from another dimension? So who put THEM there? and so on.........................

No. A mechanism designed to control the masses and to enrich the designers.

Next.
That's religion your talking about not a good or creator.

I have no idea if they're is a sentient creator but if there is he set things in motion and stood aside. In the same manner you could dig a pond in your back garden and in a couple of years it will be home to frogs, newts and stickle backs.

There kind of had to be a prime force otherwise nothing would exist. Doesn't need to be sentient any more than electricity is.

The big bang is starting to be discredited more and more. The theory breaks down about 100,000 years before the big bang.

I thought the latest theory was that the Big Bang is in a constant cycle of expansion and collapse?
That's one theory. The latest thinking, and it isn't widely accepted yet, is that background radiation, the earliest light in the universe is only from 100,000 years after the big bang then why can't we see light from before this. The cyclic theory of contraction expansion doesn't hold too much water without a big contraction to "delete" light from the previous cycle that would require a contraction to a singularity, in the same way a blackhole "deletes" light. This is not now thought to be a good theory.
