Djed Spence nominated for Sky Bet Championship YPOY

Didn't we sell bamford for £10m after he won this award?

Hopefully it's not a benchmark as I'd agree that £25m should be the starting point.

We sold Bamford for a fee of up to £10m at the age of 24, 4 seasons after he won senior Championship Player of the Year.

In the first 3 and a half of those intervening 4 seasons, he managed a grand total of 1 goal.

His value had depreciated, we managed to buy him for only £6m after his career had went downhill.

Spence is 20, currently in the form of his career and the iron is hot.
We'll almost certainly be selling him immediately, whether he wins the awards or not.
I'm sure his value would go down rapidly if he had 3 ***** seasons after this one, but that's not going to happen whilst he's here.

We need to be realistic, if we put the price at too high a value and no one is prepared to pay, he can leave for free in a couple of seasons. I can see another season loan to Forest.

I liked Spence as a Boro player and hope there is a bidding war to our benefit but despite the big media hype I personally think we will do very well to get anywhere near £15m for him.

Whenever I’ve seen him playing for Forest on the telly this season he looks much the same player as at the Boro, defensively poor but occasionally dangerous going forward. However, there remains a risk for a buying club that his attacking threat will be quickly ’sorted out’ in the premier league.

He seems to have matured a bit, although even now I see Steve Cooper has called for him to ‘stay focused,‘ perhaps indicating another manager with concern about his attitude.

😂
There is absolutely no chance on this earth that he is getting loaned out again.

All you need to do is look at other players who’ve moved from the Championship to the Premier League recently to see what type of figure we should be looking at.

Adam Webster went from Bristol City to Brighton for £20m, for example.

We probably wouldn't - the point I was trying to make was that we don't want to price him out of the market with over valuation. Its been said that he doesn't want to play for us, so if we don't/cant sell where does he go?
Personally I would like him to stay and be part of the team.

Not a silly post at all. I can’t justify Jones ahead of those on the list . Simple as that really. My opinion is shared by those who constructed the list.

Exactly and Brighton don't have the resources of say Spurs or some of the other clubs interested
