Disneyland Paris - tips

Looking at going to Disneyland Paris in a couple of months, for 3-4 days and taking the little ones.

Flights from LBA to Paris look cheap enough, and looking at booking hotel close enough to the park. Most hotels have a shuttle bus service to and from the park that goes every half hour or so.

However, transfers seem quite steep, to and from the airport to Disneyland, likewise, from Disneyland to Paris (and back - in a day).

Anyone used the public transport in Paris and recommend it?

Also, any additional useful tips will be much appreciated etc.

Not been to Paris since school trip days, so trying to seek as much advice as possible before officially booking up.

It would depend on the time of your flight regarding the public transport.
We got the last train which was around 10pm from memory and it wasn't a particularly nice experience. We were there in May and it was pitch black so must have been pretty late.

But I had one teenager put her hand in my bag that was on the floor. I pulled the bag away and her hand came with it. Then had a lot of disgruntled people talking amongst themselves and clearly about what had just happened. Conversations were pretty animated. Made me feel very uncomfortable.

I got the feeling the train as going through some pretty rough suburbs of Paris but don't know that to be fact.

Go on disneyland Paris for brits on Facebook....we got loads of tips on there....from finding the dragon under the castle...to fast passes...to getting birthday badges.
Can't help with travel...always go national express....days travel but plenty of breaks and make sure have enough to do on bus (including fave blanket/pillow to encourage some quiet time)....and I don't have to worry about anything

Just book an Uber or a Bolt from the airport to the hotel, it was only around 40-45 Euros each way for the close to the park, non-Disney hotels.

You might rethink the shuttle bus if you have younger kids, the French don't queue they just scrum, and the buses are prime targets for thieves and pick pockets. We seen a couple of incidents over the three days we were there.

Went years ago and stayed in one of the hotels on site, it was the cheapest one but we walked from there to the park every day… we got euro star and I’m sure it went direct to the resort.. may all have changed now though…

Went with family and grandkids in 2022. Flew from LBS to Paris, pre booked transfers, Disneyland Paris Transfers, were excellent value and very hospitable with the younger ones, child seats and booster seats all included in price. Stayed at the Centre Parcs resort, brilliant facilities and reasonable restaurant prices.

I’m on my way there now, biggest tip is to avoid the ferry if driving, spent 6 hours in Dover today in the pissy rain, last time took just over an hour via the train at Folkestone

Went 30 years ago when it first opened

My advice is take out a second mortgage before you go cos Every thing costs a blooming fortune and don’t go via a coach/ferry trip in case the French farmers decide to blockade the motorways in northern France.

I hope this is helpful.

Stayed at Santa Fe twice now it’s been brilliant buffet in eve/breakfast is excellent quality.

Stopped doing Disney direct but I’d definitely recommend paying for Disney express as you can drop bags at Marne le Valle upstairs and they will take them to your hotel - just go straight in the park. Same on way back just go to park and then when you’re ready to leave go to collect.

Will have to get train via Lille which isn’t too bad price wise. Both my boys love it.

Oh and if you wanna buy stuff but worry about getting it early and lugging it about all day....most of the shops deliver to your hotel if bought before 2pm.

Was that an all-in package and if so who did you book it through please?

Booked our own flights and transfers, this worked out cheaper. The Accommodation and Park passes were booked with Magic Breaks - 4nights, the park passes were good value. Two day passes for the park the other day was spent at the Centre Parcs resort. A shuttle bus travels from that resort to Disney every hour. Hope that helps

Should have also recommended the explorers hotel as it has a pirate themed indoor pool which is open all day 8am-11pm which is really useful in winter and has the shuttle buses to the parks, still expensive mind but I did manage to get 4 nights b&b for £350 last Feb, miles more this time of year though as it’s all still done up for Christmas.

Travelling with little ones is all about making the travelling experience is easy as possible. We stayed on-site (Newport Bay) short walk to the parks, great hotel and facilities (they had character meet and greet in the hotel lobby at set times). Couldn’t fault the hotel. We got the Disney Express shuttle from CDG to the hotel there and back, pricey but easy. Disneyland Paris is fantastic, didn’t find it too expensive if I’m honest. I thought the gift shop was actually much cheaper than Disneyworld in Orlando. We went 2021, it was still under Covid restrictions which meant park was capped at 50% capacity meaning barely any queues at all. Great experience. Going to head back September all being well.

Booked Hotel and park tickets direct with Disney and flights with EasyJet, although I’ll be going Air France with Newcastle next time for ease.

When we lived in Paris the kids were perfect Disney age and we had a season ticket. Tip for when you get to the park is to do things the opposite way round to everyone else - cuts down on queueing massively. You do this by immediately getting the railway to the far end once the park opens, going on the rides there first and working your way back towards the entrance.

Regarding transport, you can get the RER B into Paris, change at Chatelet, and the RER A to Disney which gets you right into the Parc. Takes just over an hour, I wouldn't do it late at night but it's perfectly fine in the daytime, it's like a fast tube and everyone uses it....but if a taxi is only €40 (sounds too cheap as it's a fair distance) then that would be better..
