We are opening up different places and spaces in Middlesbrough this week as part of inviting everyone to Discover Middlesbrough -
Tomorrow (Thursday 20th) you can explore Larchfield Community - 11am to 12noon or 2pm - 3pm - enjoy the cafe, farm shop and the acres of farm land all maintained for and by people with learning and other disabilities. Supported by an expert staff.

9.30am meet at Platform 1 Middlesbrough Railway Station to walk the Black Path. An 8 mile stretch of the walk combines industry, mature reserve and hidden art galleries. email christine_corbett@middlesbrough.co.uk

Two talks from historian and time traveller Martin Peagam - 1.30am Women's Football: The Final in Middlesbrough and 2pm Torn From Home: Teesside and Refugees - both in the Hill Street Centre space opposite Primark. There was a women's football final at Ayresome Park over 100 yrs ago in front of 22 000 fans. In his second talk Martin will talk about some of the many refugees escaping persecution to Teesside over the 20th century and beyond.

Then at 7pm at the Sea Cadets base at East Lodge, Albert Park )opp The Porthole cafe) Ian Stubbs will be shedding light on the local links to the Battle of Trafalgar - over a dozen local men fought for Nelson in the battle on 21st Oct 1805.

You will need £3 booking fee for the Black Path walk - needs to be correct fare for train. Everything else is free.

And don't forget on Friday - Debbie Gibson has travelled all the way from Australia and will be talking about Guiding with HM Bark Endeavour at Captain Cook Birthplace Museum - 2pm - £2 to cover refreshments.
