Sad news indeed. Seemed to be everywhere in the 70s and a revival during 90s Loaded culture too!

He was from very working class stock, but worked so much on that accent that when he joined the army in WW2 they sent him to officer training on the strength of it.

I think he's the last of the original Carry On team members...he did Nurse, Teacher, Constable and Columbus. Ding Dong came from Carry On Nurse where he played Jack Bell. In Carry On Constable he played "Tom Potter...None hotter!"

And then famous for playing Tony Burke in the Doctor films.

Btw how many of the original carry-on actors are still alive, as can’t be many.

Of anyone you'd class as a regular, you have still got Jim Dale, although he didn't appear until the sixties.
