Dike to WBA

Good signing. They are apparently gagging to get Hugill back to Norwich. WBA fans said he’s the worst forward they’ve ever had

He looked alright at Barnsley. I'm pretty sure he had a buy out clause of 16-20mil. I read it was massive. So definitely spent a few quid.

He will fit the gaffers 'hoof ball'. They are pretty direct going back to front.

Apparently they have one of the worst shot and chance conversion rate. Hugill couldn't hit a barn door (some wanted him back in the summer😕).

I can actually see us going in for Basham. Final 6 months of contract and a left footed CB who bombs forward in 'Wilder ball'.

I know he has his fans and he has some uses at championship level, but he's led a charmed career Hugill IMHO. Some of the moves and fees for such a technically limited footballer have been pretty odd. Must have a hell of an agent.

Think it said it all when Farke had to talk about his "influence in the dressing room" as one of Hugill's main contributions to the promotion campaign. Obviously couldn't talk much about his influence on the pitch unless winning a few headers and falling over a lot made all the difference.

I wouldn't say Dike was amazing at Barnsley, his goal return was amazing, but his general play was meh. People know about him now, and I wouldn't expect such a high goal return

Hugill is a decent championship striker and good enough for mid table teams. I just think he isn’t good enough to lead the line in a promotion push though.

He’s one of the worst players I’ve seen in a Boro shirt in living memory. I include Phil Whelan in my deductions.

WBA fans aren’t happy with the style of play now results are patchy therefore this dike signing is shat or bust for their so called hoof ball manager 🤣
Massive gamble for the brummies because that manager can’t replicate Barnsley and it’s only a matter of time IMHO

totally agree, Dike will be a very expensive signing, can only play long ball, physical type of game, he isn't really proven at this level, I mean yes 9 games in half a season, but plenty of poor players have had spells like that in the championship. IF it doesn't work out, they will be stuck with someone that can only play that way on huge wages.

Horrid side to watch & just a matter of time before they bin the manager & his type of football , hoofing it is a easy way to get the best from limited players

Hugill is a classic case of a second-tier striker who has a golden patch at a time when a Premier League manager is desperate for goals and decides to take a gamble. It was evident as soon as Hugill went to West Ham that they'd made a mistake because he barely kicked a ball for them if memory serves. They farmed him out quite quickly. I also think, as limited as he is as a footballer in terms of pace and linking the play, that if you put him in a side that has been built to service that type of player he would hit 15 goals and look much better. He didn't really fit at Boro, but of every signing we've made since relegation it's probably easier to name the ones that did fit as opposed to the ones who didn't.
