Digital Ticketing Available For All North Stand Season Cards

I've read this Thread and the stuff on the Website.

There are obviously some attractions in going digitally but if I've understood it correctly then there is one big Issue for me.

If you go digital then effectively your Season Card becomes redundant. It can't be used.

This causes problems if you can't attend the game and want to pass on your "ticket".
You can pass on the "ticket" digitally to someone in your "Family and Friends" - but even this facility is currently suspended because of technical issues.

I know there are theoretical restrictions on passing on Season Cards, but in practice passing on tickets happens all the time.
You can't make the game so you pass it onto your friend who sits next to you. He borrows the "ticket" and invites along his friend/neighbour/brother/sister/wife/husband/uncle/auntie etc etc.
Unless you have all these people on your "Friends and Family" then you are limiting who can use you ticket when you can't attend the game.

This is the reason me and two friends will be sticking with the physical Season Cards.

Electronic transfer will be attractive for people who live outside Teesside as there will be no need for meeting up.

Everyone needs to decide what is best for them.

Exactly my thoughts and why I will stick to S.C for as long as possible. I know season card holders who do not have(or want) smart phones.

Same here. Oddly, I have a good friends who specialism is programming databases and GUI's for mass ticketing. Apparently this functionality has been around for a decade or so, guess we didn't buy the right app, or maybe whoever commissioned the solution didn't care enough about the fans?

Your card doesnt become redundant. You just can only use one or the other to gain entry. The turnstile would read your card if somehow you forgot your phone. But you could not use both.

Are you sure about this? Where does it say this?

I am not trying to be awkward, but just trying to understand the position.

The website states -Existing physical Season Cards will remain activated, and can continue to be used should a supporter not wish to opt in to digital ticketing.

The implied converse statement would be that going digital means you Season Card becomes invalid/redundant.

At best the wording above is ambiguous.

Beat me to that question! I guess the only answer is to download to your phone, and then try the physical card.

As a new ticket was required as I became an OAP I was given a digital ticket by default two days before the start of the season. On a visit to the ticket office I was told that I could have a card issued if I fill in the form found online, the card would then be sent out, but could take up to two weeks.
I have yet to see an advantage to a digital ticket.
Phone out on approach, open wallet, open ticket wave phone at sensor, or take out ticket, place in slot.
Free drink. Phone out on approach, open wallet, open ticket wave phone at sensor, or take out ticket, hand to server.
Pass on ticket. Phone ticket office to change ticket to paper ticket to be collected from the ticket office. or hand card over to whoever you want.

Got some digital ticketing answers for you from Boro to questions raised on here
Will submit them next week.
Rob, I put a thread on here a few days ago about the my Boro digital app.

Tickets don’t appear to automatically download - which is a bit rubbish.

I emailed the club but as I’d fudged managing to get the ticket into my digital wallet they replied with a blunt email saying it was sorted - yes it was , but it really isn’t clear from the instructions on screen and in the confirmation emails what you need to do to get the ticket to download.

I’ve emailed them again, basically saying what I’ve said above, but they haven’t bothered replying.

All Seems a bit rushed and badly thought through to me.
