Think I was lucky that we found out my better half was pregnant just before lockdown kicked in. With no one to drink and enjoy it with I probably ended up drinking less than normal.
Congratulations! That's great.Think I was lucky that we found out my better half was pregnant just before lockdown kicked in. With no one to drink and enjoy it with I probably ended up drinking less than normal.
Sleeps an issue, I agree, I'm having a few drinks tonight but I know I'll be up several times tonight.I've actually taken the opportunity to not drink at all and I've not missed it. We simply bought no alcohol to go in the house. Since lockdown we only drink if we go for an evening meal somewhere but certainly no more than two pints or half a bottle of wine each. I actually feel my sleep has improved but no idea of it's a result of less alcohol.
Refreshingly detailed summary, thanks.Maybe. I think it is now having other things to do. During the early stages of "lockdown" on a weekend I would go to the local lidl to shop, back to the flat, watch random youtube stuff, cook a bit maybe, the odd zoom/skype, and during that drink. Mostly wine. I was on a late "shift" during to changed working hoursand so didn't have to get in to work on the Monday so Fri (when I got home from work at 9;30 pm), Sat, and Sun were drinking nights.
I've mostly worked "lates" but on "early" this month. Finish at 2:30 ish, head to cafe for coffee/food (more than happy to give something to the local economy before it gets pointlessly trashed again) before heading home. Drinking less on a weekend. I can now get out, football (smetimes), do work on the house, visit my folks.
I mostly think it was being stuck inside and it became very easy to just have a glass of wine while watching stuff (the glass of course became a bottle)
Yes, in part, that's why I posted this. Hopefully some will be able to reflect upon certain behaviours and possibly , like some who have already posted, make more constructive choices.I can easily see why people fell into the trap of drinking daily. It was a strange time. Hopefully it not to.be repeated next week

Not easy though.
It's funny, I live in New York and at night I sometimes listen to radio 5. In the middle of the night they have a talk show. Last night, two people from the area called in. The first from the Boro and the 2nd from Saltburn. Both talked about certain issues that they had had and how they coped . Some ways were good and some not so good.Certainly not. Like I said with my Mrs being pregnant and work being busy I have been able to focus on these. Some people haven't been so lucky
How are things is the US at the moment?[/QUOT really depends where you are. As you know it's a huge country. I'm in New York and at the moment we are somewhat okay in terms of covid. There's huge issues re jobs etc many have lost them and others impacted ( pay cuts etc ) - same as the UK I'm sure.
Yes, 100% big timeFrom my sector in the construction industry everyone seems to be busy. We actually do work for car transporters company's and they have never been so busy (mainly moving second hand cars but still it shows people are spending money). Its obviously the hospitality and travel sectors that are suffering. I'm sure this will be hitting New York hard.
Congratulations! Best wishes to you and your partner. Been on the club website for a Boro babygro yet?Think I was lucky that we found out my better half was pregnant just before lockdown kicked in. With no one to drink and enjoy it with I probably ended up drinking less than normal.
Same much reduced intake , I’m averaging about two cans of lager a week! I was thinking about this this morning, I’m very much a social drinker!I have just not bothered, 4 cans of Guinness in the week max, I must have knocked beer intake by 80% without thinking about it.
I have never liked wine, red or white .
I can't wait for match days.
