Did anyone hear Neil Warnock on Talksport this morning?

He sent me a handwritten reply. It was a very thoughtful note from him.
We were very lucky to have Warnock during the long covid months. He did all he could to keep us engaged when we were unable to watch games. I will always be thankful to him for that.
What did he do over and above what managers at other clubs did during those long covid months?

I understand you liked him Rob and probably had a closer personal relationship with him than the vast majority of us, fair enough.
But don't overplay his achievements here from a footballing perspective.

Apart from initially avoiding relegation he underachieved, and left us with an out of condition, unbalanced squad.

And I certainly don't feel lucky to have had him here because he gave you a hand written Christmas card.

I think warnock done a decent enough job here, but lets not pretend it was charity he got handsomely paid for what he did and ultimately under achieved.

I also aren't buying this whole nice guy shtick, he was a complete ar5e to Craig from the Gazette when he rightly reported we were awful away at stoke that second season. A young lad in his first season covering the club, saying exactly what everybody had seen and warnock just spent a full press conference having a pop, then got in Rob's ear to do a bit more kicking.

Hopefully his christmas card wasn't a picture of him rubbing cream into his nether regions... sight a few of the boro lads will have seen over the past couple of seasons I'd imagine.

Talking about lack of class. I received my first Christmas card of the year today and guess who it was from? Neil Warnock.
I have never ever received a Christmas card off a Middlesbrough manager past or present before. Came in the post. A really nice touch.
That is a very nice gesture actually!

My mate once called TalkSport ‘TaxidriversShouting’, and it’s made me laugh ever since.

Have you noticed how Warnock and Wilder never refer to each other by name? It’s always “the previous manager” or “the manager who’s currently there.”

Definitely some drama there!
Is there some history, especially given their joint Sheffield United connections, surely they know each other? However, you wouldn't think so the way they talk about each other? Tbf I have also noticed that while Warnock always talked about opposition managers....as in 'Steve will be pleased the refs given them that one'....Wilder concentrates on us....maybe early days, but a definite contrast in styles.

Neil was a great manager for us and I miss him terribly.
A handwritten note to Rob shows the quality of the man 👍
Leo is seen as one of our own for his touchline antics....
Double standards 😡

Sorry Nobby but that is so not the reason at all why we see Leo as one of our own
Ok fair enough it's not the only reason, but Leo getting involved in touchline squabbles was seen as a good thing by the majority of our supporters, chanting his name etc.
For some reason that's not true for Neil.....so yes it's double standards 👍

In regards to NW I just think his squabbles became tedious to many, seemed to me it was finger pointing after every game. Probabaly wasn`t but felt like it

I don`t particularly think it`s double standards but you do and i`m not going to argue against your opinion

He's not a legend here. Give it a few years and nobody will remember anything about his reign other than us not going down. Another era where barely anything of note happened
This reminds me of Tony Mowbray’s departure.. it wasn’t until a few years later that fans realised what Tony Mowbray had actually done for the club. Saved us from certain relegation and built the core of a promotion winning side with next to nothing.

Warnock with Dijksteel, Fry & Bola fit has us sitting top four. He’s done Wilder a massive favour and left him with an absolute peach of a squad to build on.

Up until the very end his record was comparable with Karankas.. Karanka had nothing like the injury problems Warnock had.

Wilder was our long term option and was no doubt getting offers from bigger clubs, I get why we had to move when we did but Warnock was a top bloke and did one hell of a job for us.

Yep I said the same there’s clearly an issue the previous manager is as close as wilders got to referencing him.

You’re one of my favourite posters Newy and I respect that data you posted with Karanka and Warnock’s comparable records… but that was before the peak where Karanka got us in the playoff final, and then promoted.

For sure Warnock got fired before the graphs could collide but anyone with eyes could see what Karanka was building and could see the team getting towards the point where we’d be a serious contender for promotion.

I certainly didn’t see that with Warnock in the last 12 months, not sure anyone else did either. If anything the squad is underachieving, and I didn’t see us improving under Warnock at all - quite the opposite.

You also mention Bola, Dijksteel and Fry - two players signed by Woody (or someone else in the backroom).

I do agree that Warnock’s time at the club has left us with some cracking players, but still a bit of work to do in terms of organisation and being a team who can properly challenge, which Wilder is doing almost immediately. Because he’s a better manager.
