Any idea what's going on with him? I'd like to see him fight for his place. He's better than what we had last season by a mile.

Didn't he want to go back to mainland europe because it was difficult for him to spend time with his family due to covid restrictions? That situation still exists so I would expect him to find a club in Austria, Germany, Switzerland area.

I don't rate him at all, happy for him to be let go.

a total waste of £1m in my eyes.

I don't think anyone saw enough of him in competitive action to be able to offer a proper view on if he was any good or not. Although I partially agree with you that spending £1m on a reserve keeper at a time of purse tightening seemed a foolhardy decision.

I always felt he couldn't be any worse than Betinelli, but as others have said he seems set on a move back to Europe for personal/family reasons so it looks likely he's off.

All of the noises coming out of the club suggest Lumley will be the number one anyway.

Played 9 games for us. Don't know how anyone could make an informed opinion of him in that time.

No idea if he's better than what we've got but I know we didn't need to waste a £1m of very limited funds when we did buy him.

That said if no one else wants him we've got him for one more season but I can't imagine he'll be here much longer.

Seems he‘d rather stay in Hamburg with St Pauli if possible as he‘s had a good spell there and feels trusted and appreciated by the manager fans alike.

This (rapidly translated) from Transfermarkt.de (27.05)

For Stojanovic one thing is clear – his future is unlikely to be with Middlesbrough, at least not as things stand. "It was a difficult time for me at Middlesbrough“ he says "the current manager didn‘t seem to rate me which is why I looked for a loan move to St. Pauli“

As Middlesbrough recently extended manager Niel Warnock‘s contract a return wouldn‘t seem a viable option for Stojanovic. In addition, it seems that there has been little interest in North Yorkshirte to pursue the possibility of Stojanovic‘s return, even though their current keeper Marcus Betenelli is just on loan and has not been offered a long term deal. The Austrian added that he had been in touch with the goalkeeping coach at Boro but the discussion was more generally about how things were rather than any specific contract issues.

For what it‘s worth from the little we saw, I actually rated him and – fun fact – the website reckons his market value is Euros 600K

That's if we did actually pay the full £1m, which I strongly suspect we didn't.

Factor in his contract, which will have been modest and I don't think the deal was that rich really.

He is a decent enough keeper. His tendency to punch rather than catch is his most annoying trait for me, but that is European keepers for you. Good shot stopper, far better than Bettinelli ever was last season. Do we know how good Lumley is… no we don’t. We definitely need a competent back up. He is better than anything we currently have, He was certainly better than Pears who he competed with.
