Failing to recognise strengths and weaknesses early enough and then failing to resolve deficiencies quickly.

To bring in Bangura like they did gives me the impression Engel was recognised early in training that he was someway short of the player their data suggested when they bought him. It may also explain Carrick telling him to stay deep v Millwall. Engel should not be hounded for his, recruitment and scouts should be the ones accountable. I feel for Engel right now and hope coaching can help or a loan period away in January.

Why on earth is Woodgate getting shade here? Carrick picks the team.. Carrick does the pressers!

If Carrick was a boro lad.. the fans would want out ASAP.. this ex Man Utd elixir is granting him some sort of immunity from criticism. The magic touch from Alex Fergusson has gone on to provide and extend the careers of many an ex player.. Hughes, Bruce, Ince, Keane, Giggs, Rooney, Neville.. to name just a few.

The ex Boro old guard gets criticism straight away.. ex Man Utd.. he must know what he's doing.
