Defending Corners was abysmally bad

No. Barlaser delivers some decent balls into the box but we are poor at converting them. Yes, some were awful lobs into the area little better than catching practice for the keeper but there were two or three that were genuinely threatening the Cov goal. What we don't seem to do is mix it up enough. It was just a succession of balls to the far post. We have had some joy with short corner routines but I don't recall any yesterday. Perhaps one?
Lots of time he struggles to beat the first man.. like lots of times… too many.

That's not his fault per se, it is just our (one & only?) corner routine is that the ball has to be placed into a very small window of 'just' over the near post defender but not too high over them, as then the keeper will catch it, along the edge of the 6 yard box for the runners to attack.

I'm sure the stats will show that when a corner goes into that small window there is higher chance of a goal, it is just we are unable to deliver the ball into it regularly enough to make it a dangerous weapon for us.

If we want to persist with it, one person has to run in to the front post & if it doesn't look like its high enough to beat their man at the near post try & get a flick on or disrupte the clearance.

I’d get him off corners.. I don’t think we have the aerial threat especially with crooks out and lenihan out and when Coburn isn’t playing.

Blasting the ball into their nearest defender just doesn’t work for me. Keep it low and pull the trigger.
