Deer Shed Festival near Thirsk ( Baldersby Park) is appealing for a few more volunteers to fill the last roles for Deer Shed 12 in July.
It is a brilliant deal as in return for working one shift you get to see the rest of the weekend festival headlined by Nadine Shah, John Grant and Django Django for free.

Volunteering is a great way to come to Deer Shed for free in exchange for working 8 hours over the weekend. Not a bad hourly rate if you do the maths!

We have slots to fill in ticketing, parking & trollies on the Friday as well as in the science tent and workshops across the whole weekend. If you are good with a litter pickin' stick how about extending your time in with us and help tidying up after the weekend?

Full details on our volunteer page.

A really fun way to meet new folks and save some beans. Join the crew!

Adult tickets are £180 now, plus £8 ticketmaster/admin fee.

So, I would say you are paying £20 and volunteering for 8 hours to get a £188 ticket for 3 days less 8 hours of festival to enjoy.

So you pay £110 +£20 Admin fee. You get £110 back on completion -£20. So you pay £20 to volunteer, is that correct.
You may not believe this but some people volunteer at festivals and then... don't turn up for their shifts. 😱

I've not come across this system before (at the big festivals like Glasto if you do this you just get "blacklisted") but it seems reasonable enough to me. You could even argue that a less than honourable type could view this as a cheap ticket.

A mate of mine did exactly that. He didn’t volunteer with the sole purpose of bunking off and watching the rest of the festival, he was given the job of cleaning the toilets in the kids field and he’d had enough so quit after his first shift. Now he can’t get a ticket because as you say they have blacklisted his name. Fair enough too.

I know people that volunteer every year it is a grear deal to watch the rest of the festival. For me it is the very best festival because it has a unique atmosphere. The family/all age aspect means it is extremely safe/friendly. Restricting numbers means you could literally walk to the very front for most of the acts.
