David Bowie - Will we ever see the like again?

Watching the tribute to the great man yesterday evening. I grew up listening to his music and in awe of the song lyrics. Incredible musician who influenced so many others, a fashion icon also, and musical genius. The term 'Legend' is thrown around far too much these days but in Bowies case it is apt. He reinvented himself constantly, his music spanned the late 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s. and to his death 5 years ago. I doubt whether many of todays artists will leave the same impression.

we'll defo see a renaissance act from music/entertainment... nothing like we would recognise tho.

there's probably some kid right now creating VR landscapes with AI soundscapes in their bedroom splicing wolf gens with their own to make a perma hair vest... and breakdancing or summat

No - Record Companies/Apple/Spotify etc have to much control and everyone has to be an instant overnight success.

Artists aren't allowed to grow and mature/develop - it's in the public eye straight away, over hyped and declared as genius when there is none and then consigned to the scrap heap.
Its like footballers who are declared geniuses, the greatest player ever by fans because they've had a decent season or scored a few good goals.

Agree. The terms genius and legends thrown around like confetti. In reality there are so few people who really deserve this accolade/term. For me they have to be unique, creative, one offs, and incredibly talented, as with Bowie.

Sadly, we now have the 'Reality TV stars' with no discernible talent. People who become famous for being famous. They write books about their dreary, non event lives, get paid gross amounts of money, and are always on our tv screens. (Am I sounding envious here? haha)
