Darts? Not really a Sport is it?

My opponent could be in another room, or country.
The conditions are the same and neither of us can impact on each others strategy or gameplay.
As much a sport as tiddlywinks.
Mind, at least it's not dressed up like a pantomime trying to hide the fact it's just a pass-time for unimaginative drinkers.

Like snooker, it requires skill, therefore most consider it a sport rather than a pastime

I have a theory on what should be classified as a sport: if you don't have to change your shoes to do it properly, it's not a sport

Looking forward to the examples which disprove this theory 😁

It's more than a sport :)
It's aerodynamics, mathematics, gladiatorial combat and sport all rolled into one (y)
Perfect opportunity for some first class Sid Waddell

"[He's] as happy as a hound-dog who's won a year's supply of Boneo."

"If we'd had Phil Taylor at Hastings against the Normans, they'd have gone home."

"When Alexander of Macedonia was 33, he cried salt tears because there were no more worlds to conquer … [Eric] Bristow's only 27."

"Look at the man go: it's like trying to stop a water buffalo with a pea-shooter."

What about swimming that requires no shoes ? 🤭

Sport is defined as an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.

Well I think it just scrapes in 😉 Skill is clearly required and physical exertion i guess surrounds the continued practice and arm throwing. It is a sport for me, undoubtedly.

Sport is about drama, upsets, comebacks, intense rivalryand moments of skill under immense pressure. Darts has all of that in abundance and will always be a sport in my book.

It's entertaining. That said I only watch the ally pally matches. I've been 3 times and no interest whatsoever in who was playing.

I really don't see it as a 'sport'. Yet that doesn't distract from the many hours of practice these people put in.

I shudder to think how much the ally pally has lost in ticket and booze sales this year.
