Very much feels like just an ordinary ex-player for me, but he was immense for us under Karanka in the Championship.
I remember quite a few players bailing out to look after their own personal interests (Juninho, Merson, etc etc).He was a great player for us HOWEVER when we were deep in the clarts he bailed out on us.
Professional footballers understandably have little loyalty, and rightly we can't demand it either, when it comes to making better their careers we can all agree on that but his behaviour at that time was not what I would expect of a good pro. It was just two more games. We paid him when he was isolating at home - I don't think it was too much to ask of him to be honestI dont really begrudge any player not playing at the end of that covid period. Unless we had an improved offer on the table, or basically an offer he was already happy with, its a risk to then injure yourself for a year or two when its potentially your last career move.
We don't have the best record for players picking up injuries and I doubt we'd sign him if he was out for a year after picking up that injury.
I know people like to play the tiniest violin card due to footballers earnings, but at the end of the day they're people in a career with a very limited timespan and they don't owe any loyalty to clubs or employers especially when clubs are so quick to cut ties when they're done with players.
Isn't there a cut off point of 19 matches - in which case he will playI was watching their match v Sunderland the other day and he picked up his 5th booking of the season. So he might be suspended?
Wondered if that might be the case as I couldn't find anything to say he was suspended. Cheers for confirming.Isn't there a cut off point of 19 matches - in which case he will play
