Daniel Ayala my favourite player from the karanka era

The absolute glue of the the team for two seasons.

I thought he would take to the premier league like duck to water but it never happened.

His injury record and the manner of his leaving do let him down though.

He was a quality player for us, I was gutted when he left, a big goal threat for us and he defended well.

Thankfully he's injured right now too, so we don't have to see the inevitable.

I never rated him, always thought he was a bit of a bomb scare, same with Riggott.

I'm not saying I'm right like but there are some players I could never take to and Ayala was one of them.

Riggott was very good, just injury prone sadly and lacking in a bit of pace. I remember when a 50 year old Kanu outpaced him from the halfway line….

Ayala is much more limited but solid at this level.
