But the law is the law and that wasn't the law, it was a government guideline. They specifically said they wouldn't comment on government guidelines, only the regulations.
It's very unusual to be in these circumstances because of hastily written law, but there were concerns that the police were fining people for not following government guidelines initially from a legal point of view. Police guidelines were changed to better fit in with the law. So, yes, the police should ignore government guidelines if they're contrary to law (unless they believe (usually via the CPS) that it's not in the public interest). Can you prosecute someone for following a government guideline though?
Not sure how using special powers and influence to get a street cordoned off would stop someone committing suicide? Can you remember when Caroline Flack was hounded by the press and the outcome of that? Will some of you lot not be happy until you get your pound of flesh? What happened to "Be Kind"?
Bloody Hypocrites.

Low but not untypical these days.Blimey - that is low, very low.
Or, a man breaks lockdowns rules, a man responsible for setting those rules.Where are you lot getting your pitchforks from these days ?
So a man commits no crime and you all still want to burn him as a witch. What a lovely civilised country we live in.
Exactly this!!Can you remember when Caroline Flack was hounded by the press and the outcome of that? Will some of you lot not be happy until you get your pound of flesh? What happened to "Be Kind"?
Bloody Hypocrites.
We aren't though. You are the one over reacting and I explained why. Don't ignore things just because they disprove youYou're just acting like a fcking mob now. "Get the rope out boys there's gonna be a lynching" Disgraceful.
..but it's not though, is it? Caroline Flack may have been hounded on social media, but there was no evidence of any sort against her. Cummings is palpably guilty.Exactly this!!
I think the problem is posters on here are getting exasperated with what is occurring outside DCs home whilst other posters on here are trying to justify or ignore it because of his “crime”. As I posted yesterday this is not correct behaviour regardless of what you think about what he has done. His child, his wife, his neighbours facing this onslaught on a daily basis is just too much and cannot be condoned.Using the suicide of a vulnerable young woman with a history of depression as a stick to beat people who want to see nothing more than justice and an appropriate punishment for the behaviour of Cummings and then call for kindness takes a special kind of myopia.
For the guideline breaches and the position he is in should lose his job, nothing else, the majority of people are angry not just at his actions and the lack of reasonable justification, but at the extraordinary lengths and incredible loopholes that have been created around him.
It’s sick AM pure and simple. To make such a disgusting comparison.Using the suicide of a vulnerable young woman with a history of depression as a stick to beat people who want to see nothing more than justice and an appropriate punishment for the behaviour of Cummings and then call for kindness takes a special kind of myopia.
