Could this be the week?

Not when you look at Barnsley and Reading's fixtures.

We could quite possibly win our next two but so will the two teams in 5th & 6th. Meaning we would likely still have 8 points to make up after the break.

Overall Barnsley look to have a fairly comfortable run in (mind you this is the Champo so anything can happen), I think the team to catch will be Reading.

All we can do is win games and see where that leaves us, simple as that.
All teams will slip up,Barnsley and Reading included.
C'mon Boro

Barnsley are in such good form its likely they won't be able to sustain it until the end of the season. Reading are a bit hit and miss and have been very slowly falling down the table; will they pick up enough points to hang onto a top 6 place?

We're outsiders for sure, but its irrelevant what other clubs do unless we have a good, probably unbeaten, run-in.

We really should have beaten Brum, Blackburn and Rotherham - that bad run of 9 points we let slip has cost us dearly, if we'd won those 3 we would be above Reading now

This season we have been too inconsistent and not scored enough goals, we've not really deserved it have we?

I strongly fancy us for next season though

Better to look at average points needed for the playoffs. It’s around 75, so we need to win 6 or 7 out of this last 10. Home to Preston and away to Millwall need to be won to stay in it when you consider we have Bournemouth, Watford and Barnsley back to back after. If we went into those 3 with 60 points we are in there with a shout.

I always find run ins at this stage of the season very misleading.

Give it another 3-4 games and many teams simply have nothing to play for. You will see sides looking at next season and playing Fringe players etc.

We are 5 points above Stoke. So I'd say anyone from Stoke down to maybe will Derby have nothing to play for in a week or two. The simply can't go up or go down.

We are more than capable of winning 6-8 of our final games. Yet its an 8 point swing (also goal difference) so its going to be very difficult.

It will be incredibly frustrating if we miss out by 4 or 5 points. When you consider the likes of Rotherham / Brum and Derby have beaten us recently. Also Bristol City who were in free fall😕

Feels a lot like Karanka's first season, think we finished 7th? Like that seasom lots of promise and encouraging signs, but just not consistent enough at the end of the day and too much ground to make up.

Think if you're Warnock you focus on finishing strongly and building a bit of momentum and belief for next season. If we somehow scrape the play-offs, that's an unexpected bonus.

Good runs start as good runs stop, one match your felling as though no one van beat you after going so many games without defeat then, the ball goes the outside of the post instead of the inside, the ref fails to give you a stonewall penalty, players forms drop, you dont get the rub of the green no matter how well your team are doing, the ball just wont go in, these factors are the very reason we love football, it's so unpredictable

I'd like to think this season has given Warnock & Co enough to base their promotion push for next season. I can't see us making the Play Offs this year but then again that doesn't mean it has not been a success. I think we've found a solid identity of football which we can carry forward next year. We're comfortable against the top teams in the division and with a packed Riverside, I can see our home form being a great foundation.

It's the lack of clinical goal scoring which we need to address, we have some great play makers who can put the balls where they need to be. I'd love to see us get someone like Glenn Murray on a short-term contract. He's scored 2 in 10 for Forest this year but I think they'd even agree by their own standards, they have been pants as a whole.

Karanka's first full season? We finished 4th with 85 points.
Season before that he was appointed in November when we were 3rd or 4th bottom and we finished 12th.
This season is nothing like either of those.

Was thinking that myself.

If you offered me a comfortable season and finishing 8th/9th place whilst shipping out some dead wood, before the start of this season, I'd have probably accepted it - based on what last season gave us!

Hopefully it's a platform for Warnock to build on.

I can't see us making the top 6. Barnsley are on fire and 8 points are a lot to catch up on with only 12 games remaining.

Hate to admit it but I’ve written off this season . It was a huge ask to finish top 6 and was essentially a matter for NW to suss out who he wants and needs and equally the opposite ( goodbye Britt ) . This run in will say a lot about his players fitness and their will Which will be useful .
I reckon Gibbo has assured NW funds otherwise he wouldn’t have bothered signing an extension

ps can’t wait to see what he says about Britt when he’s cleared off ! ( good swipe at Monk )

If I'd meant his first full season I'd have said so. I got the final position confused with a mogga season but we had an outside shot of the play offs in his first season after taking over. We were 6 points off with 4 to play.

So how is it "nothing like" that season given we have an outside shot of the play-offs this season too? Think we ended up 8 points off. Remind me again how far off the play-off we are right now.

Even harder with only 10 games to go.
