Don’t want to be too negative after tonight…

But when was the last time we scored from a corner (apart from the recent own goal)? We have enough of them. I actually can’t remember us getting our head on one the last few games. Not sure if it’s the delivery or the players in the box but we’re just not threatening.

Don’t know if anyone has any stats. I reckon we are probably 7 or 8 goals a season behind most teams, certainly the playoff contenders.
 
We've 4 people in the squad who genuinely like heading the ball , towards their goal .

If you've only two playing at a time , most of the season, don't be surprised we don't score from corners.
Jones, Silvera,Mcgree, Azaz, greenwood will score 20 headers in their combined careers at best
 
I’d say it’s been the one big area for improvement under Carrick that hasn’t been exploited. I think it’s fairly obvious we’ve not cracked it when you see that corners takers over the season have swapped so much. Greenwood, Howson, Hackney, Azaz, Barlaser, O’Brien, McNair, Mcgree all given it a crack.

The 2 central defenders in every team (including us) should be good headers of the ball and a threat from corners. Whoever is playing. If they aren’t, it’s a glaring weakness. Same for the centre forward.

All it needs then is 1 other 6 footer in the box and we’ve got 4 threats.

As long as the delivery is good.

We hit a few good ones tonight to be fair under the crossbar, but in terms of a headed threat I’ve genuinely never seen a team worse than us. 90% of our corners are simple unchallenged clearances.

Watch the championship highlights every week and there are always at least 4 or 5 direct headers from set pieces (usually corners) and it’s never us.
 
They have been awful for years. Apart from the 2 from Azaz that nearly went straight in. Almost every one was cleared by a leeds head.

It's weird that Clarke and Rav don't get on more. Its not like they are short.

Just remember we turned the prolific Flint into a set play dud. It's nothing new 😂
 
We are never going to be a huge threat from corners, we simply aren't set up with a bunch of aggressive aerial threats in the team, which is understandable if you have technical players more comfortable in possession. We might have one or two "big lads" who are decent aerially, but that generally is too easy to negate from a deadball.

I'd rather be crap at corners and watch the technical, possession based football that we play now, than go back to dinosaur football, playing percentages and "putting it in the mixer"
 
I actually think Greenwood knocks some decent corners in. We just don't seem to win any headers. We are also **** poor at defending them....
