“To build the largest diagnostic network in British history, it requires us to work with both public and private sector partners with the specialist skills and experience we need. Every pound spent is contributing towards our efforts to keep people safe as we ramp up testing capacity to 500,000 tests a day by the end of October.”

Never saw these jobs advertised

I presume they'll have to pay the money back as they failed miserably.

You wouldnt see those jobs advertised - they're consultants fees.

Take a look at BCG, Bain, McKinsey, Deloitte, Accenture, KMPG, EY's websites - there will be jobs advertised on there you can apply for and then you may get a chance to work on a government contract (usually the lowest choice of client for most consultants). Be aware that those fees are not what the consultants earn though....

I mean that could be 6 people. It’s not really that much. Haven’t they allocated 10billion or something in total for the system. Drop in the water. Good headline though. Honestly rather a consultant have a crack, if truly independent, than some Tory donor who hasn’t got a clue.

That's a day rate, normally for a very senior partner, rather than what they'll be paying for individual consultants most of which will be < 2k per day.

Think you're also confusing consultants and contractors in your post re independence.

My bad. Just firing off relies haphazardly. Still, stand by the point - it’s not really a lot of money. And I very much would like any opportunity to have a dig at the gov

What are the odds that the fees will be paid to a consulting firm set up as a limited company just last month, with zero experience in anything to do with the matter, and is owned by an offshore company controlled by a Tory peer.

I actually don't think in this case that's what's happened (unusually).

Think the figure quoted is for BCG, but I'm willing to stand corrected. The thing is, many of the partners at these firms are from similar backgrounds to the government, and so are very much linked by circumstances anyway.
