Deal to take over town's shopping centre completed ahead of transformation (msn.com)

I'm not saying Lord Houchen has done anything wrong so far, but I'll leave the door open for PE to investigate.

Reminds me of this:

*Town-planner Franklin Medhurst is the former chief of the visionary 1960s Teesside Survey and Plan - a comprehensive scheme for postwar renewal of the dirty and polluted Teesside area. He describes the sabotage of the Plan, and his own shocking dismissal from it; and gives his view on the part played in the destruction of Stockton's heritage by John Poulson, who built one of the biggest architectural practices in Europe and was eventually jailed for corruption. [Amazon].

Excellent, if not annoying - How corrupt John Poulson trousered thousands at the expense of destroying Stockton High Street with that concrete monstrosity. About "persuading" councillors, engineers and construction firms with financial "inducements"?!

I'm not suggesting Houchen is a manipulative, self-centred, crook, but his motives are, shall we say, at the very least "questionable" ?!

I've got that book (my mum worked for him). I'm afraid it was ever thus with this sort of behaviour. Once again it seems.
