Cole Palmer

Pep wanted him to stay, but as it was Palmer wasnt going to be on the 1st team sheet and that's what he wanted. He would go ahead of Foden now.
Man Utd will have some player in the future, he is a big Utd fan and when they have become a threat again and able to afford him he will go back.
 
I'd not be surprised if the real reason for the Palmer sale is that it helped their financial position with him being home grown, it's been the same for lots of clubs recently.

Foden was the best player in the league last season, so it's not like they missed him.

Obviously Palmer's been incredible for Chelsea, so it looks daft, but they'd rated him to begin with and he pushed for a move which helped them out financially.
