Coffee machines

My Nespresso Vertuo Plus has finally given up the ghost and is kaput. Had it about 6 years and it will cost £90 to repair. You can get a new machine for £99 with pods and a frother. However, not sure if I want to go down the Nespresso route again, but they do have some good offers on at the minute.

I like the idea of a bean to cup machine, but they're not cheap. Anyone got any advice/recommendations?

TIA

I've had this for 5 or 6 years, and although it's had a couple of faults De'longhi have always been really good in terms of customer service and repair and replacement.

I have a De’Longhi bean to cup machine and have had faultless, daily use of it for over 3 years.

One of the best things I have ever bought.

You would never go back to Nespresso.

Concur on De Longhi. We’re on our second Dynamica machine in the past ten years, and we’ve not had any problems with them at all.
It also opens up a whole new world of experiencing coffee beans from different continents.

We got a cheap B2C machine (Beko!). Its fine. It turns the beans into coffee as far as I can tell.

Had a DeLonghi before that was rubbish - needed a full clean after every other cup.

Agree. I have a less flashy Delonghi bean to cup. Great coffee and good service when it broke down.

Two things to stir this board up, coffee machines and EVs. 🤣🤣🤣

I got the Smeg BCC02 last year and love it, use it pretty much daily.

It's simple to use and produces a lovely coffee as well as looking really nice on the worktop.

We're getting the new Ninja Luxe Cafe machine as a joint Christmas present to each other, has had really good reviews and a mate of mine loves his.

Nice looking machine. I've just bought a new French press, I just like the coffee black, nothing else with it, but I only drink one cup a day. I've given up black tea but drink green and ginger or lemon and ginger through the day. Every morning at 5 its hot water and fresh lemon juice.

I've got a Sage Bambino Plus and a DF54 grinder to go with it, couldn't be happier with my setup but it does take a bit of learning how to dial coffee in and steam milk if you're into milk based drinks but it's well worth it in my opinion.

I did wonder about that. Had a loan of a Sage Barista Touch from a mate who has a cafe, roastery and sells machines, but I didn't get on with it at all. The Ninja is interesting, although the review I watched said the only real downside is that it's more of a kitchen appliance than a coffee machine - not really built with repairs in mind, so outside of the warranty you're on borrowed time.

I might just go old school and buy a Gaggia and a decent grinder.

Would I be right in thinking that's got enough clearance under the portafilter for decent sized mugs?

Yeah, I cant think of many occasions where we've struggled to get anything but the biggest mug under it, other than perhaps those reusable cups when I've had to decant it from an espresso cup.

Is the coffee that good?

I`ll be honest I`m not even sure I would recognise a very good cup of coffee.

If I was ever to consider buying a Bean to Cup coffee machine I`d need to be able to purchase an equivalent in a shop. Is that possible?
