Coburn.

Josh is a great young prospect and I am glad that he is getting a run in the starting eleven, but he is not the finished article. I am more concerned that Latte Lath is not getting enough game time. The lad has not done much wrong and he clearly has alot to offer. He is much more the finished article than Josh and looks more likely to score goals. He is a gem that needs polishing. He was signed for £5m and given the number 9 shirt. He cant be doing his confidence much good finding himself replaced by a raw 20 year old how was about to go out on loan at the start of the season.

Have you seen our record Since Coburn came into the team? That’s why he’s playing.

I like Latte Lath too and he’s a good alternative but Coburn has the shirt and rightly so.

Before Coburn starting played 7 won 0
After Coburn starting played 9 won 7.

I like Lath, but it would be madness to replace Josh with him at the moment when it's very obvious what a positive influence Coburn is having on the team. It's a squad game anyway so E L L will still play most games as a sub, and as he has already, play an important role.

So this miraculous change is form is all down to Coburn?

I thought it was my lucky pants.

So you admit that your analysis is crap...otherwise why bother playing Latte Lath at all, given that it means we lose whenever he plays.
What? We are explaining why Coburn is playing. You are the one who wants Latte Lath in the team.

He was great in the first half - ref didn't give him anything second half which made it difficult for him.

He is deceptively quick - would have been through first half except their centre half took him out when he did him for pace - just too far from goal to be a red, but definitely stopped a really good chance. (A very good foul actually)
It was indeed a good foul, I was right behind it and he outpaced their centre back and was through but there was also a covering defender so definitely not a red

Coburn and Lath are opposites. Lath is certainly no number ten, he is the ideal foil for when Coburn has worn down and occasionally roughed up a CB (or two), to come on and use his pace against tiring legs in the second half (see Cardiff as one example). I don’t think Lath is disciplined enough yet, he is raw, he reminds me in some way of Traore when he first came (albeit different positions and skillset), you had no idea what he would do, neither did the opposition, but crucially neither did his team mates at first. I do not understand the clamour for tweaks or change when we are gathering points more often than not at present. In Carrick I trust.

Hang on as minute. Read my original post. I am all for Josh. I was simply expressing concern that LL is not getting enough game time. Maybe playing the two of them together Could be a winning combination.

However I think it's daft to suggest that Coburn is responsible for our change in form. You might more realistically claim that it's down to Greenwood who is our top scorer by the way. The fact is that the whole team was playing badly at the start of the season, particularly the defence. The reason we won yesterday was because of our defensive display and a bit of magic from Greenwood, not because of a Coburn inspired brilliant attacking performance.

It’s been explained why our defence was struggling so badly at the start of the season. The ball wasn’t sticking in the final third and we were put under relentless pressure.

We now have a target man who can hold the ball up and we are under less pressure a result.

Coburn and Greenwood have both been magnificent. I am not so sure why your so bothered about Latte Laths game time, it’s a long season he will get opportunities and is playing an important role form the bench just now and there will be games where he starts. But right now Coburn is performing superbly and an absolute battering ram for defenders. They are both our players so no need to be concerned about game time.

"It has been explained"

By whom? I can't remember Carrick or anyone else saying this. It is obviously not true, because we don't play that way. We don't knock the ball forward to striker who holds it up, we pass from the back and dominate possession. Yesterday, we mixed the play up a bit because we couldnt dominate agaisnt Leicester.

A major part of our success last season was Akpoms ability to hold the ball up and bring others into play. We didn’t have that at the start of the season.

Josh is now doing that really well. It also gives the option to go direct at times. Have you never seen Dieng pinging it straight to Corburn before? This was an option we simply didn’t have at the beginning of the season.
