Cleveland police commissioner:

Back to the OP, I know Coppinger pretty well in a professional sense and whilst it's maybe not surprising given he's a politicism by definition, he did everything he could to offload and deflect any bad press.

I always wonder how Conservative PCC will work in policing, given its fundamentally about addressing social issues. It lends itself far more neatly to a left wing PCC.

I always found him extremely supportive for the volunteer social projects I was involved in. I hope the new PCC is as good.

His heart was in the right place, but he made some very poor decisions, listened to some poor advice and never took responsibility for some things he should of.

Having said all that he fell victim to a coup de gras, unfairly I believe.

From a Boro - football point of view - I am hoping this will not have a detrimental consequence to getting fans into the Safety Advisory Group (SAG) for the Riverside. This group of police, Council, emergency services and football club will make the final decisions about how exactly we return to the Riverside as fans. The government will issue a decree but the SAG will have the authority to issue all the regulations and restrictions - that could mean things like whether food or drink can be sold outside the ground etc. They have a lot of power and discretion as well, for instance at Plymouth they decreed that the same person had to sit on the same seat through this season - obviously they did not have many games with fans in the end but can you imagine what impact that would have. So, hopefully the new head will welcome and not veto fan representation.
Also, the last commissioner was really good at assisting in any online racism reported. I hope this situation doesn't change.
Hes ex UKIP so I wouldn't hold your breath
