city V west ham off due to storm Ciara

I'm in South Manchester and it's pretty bad at the moment. But it's only been like this for the part hour. Very very strong winds with heavy down pours. Probably a good decision to call it off in all honesty and usually I'd be one of the first to moan over things like this.

It just thundered in London and I got excited because I like thunder but then it never happened again. :cautious:

It thundered? Don’t you only get thunder in the warmer months? Maybe you don’t. Anyway trains cancelled so West Ham fans couldn’t get there so even if it wasn’t why they called it off it was to the travelling fans benefit.

Man I didn’t hear the thunder. I do love a good storm. It honestly doesn’t seem THAT bad here. But it seems to have been a bad storm.

competely ruined the Calcutta cup as a sporting event

Seems ok in Sheffield, but the storm was supposed to be worse on the west coast so a postponement doesn't surprise me.

Thunder can happen anytime I think, we had a storm here in Barcelona a couple of weeks ago, it was freezing and thundered all night. It thunders pretty much everytime it rains here actually.

I'm in East Manchester and in all honesty the game could probably have been played yesterday, the storm having eased off a bit by early evening. I suspect the main consideration - for once - might have been the travelling supporters coming either side of the match when the weather wasn't quite so clever, forecasters being spot on again. This said, the conductor of my London-bound train on Saturday had advised all travellers planning a Sunday return to travel on Monday instead, if possible, and that there would be one instead the usual four trains an hour between London-Manchester-London on Sunday, or possibly even none depending on the ferocity of the storm. He said a complete shutdown was more than likely with no replacement bus service in operation.
