Chuba.

Didn't Ajax sell their best 3 players in the summer, wouldn't that have something to their drop in form.

Speaking about Dutch league - PSV (Dutch Champions) taken apart by Arsenal last night - shows the gap between the two leagues.
Ajax are in turmoil and its wonderful to see, especially for feyenoord (Dutch Champions😝) supporters. Feyenoord could and should have put 5 past Celtic the other night.. it’s De Klassieker (Ajax v Feyenoord) on Sunday

Maybe their manager did a Warnock and introduced Chuba to the Ajax players in a 'you were my 3rd choice signing' disparaging way . Who knows. He seems backup at the moment to what they have already. He started excelling for us once he got consecutive starts in a favoured position. Can't see any judgement is necessary until he has at least had 6 consecutive starts in the same position.
I take issue with some of Warnocks interviews when we signed Akpom he was waxing lyrical saying how he had been aware how good he is and we had signed the top target seeing how he scored in his first 2 games for us. Then 6 months later he was a player that had been forced on him.

sometmes it amazes me when managers sign players who excelled in a specific role in a team, or position and just assume they will be the same in another

The ajax coach is basically saying Chuba will not play as the 10, but in wide position cutting into to support the striker

We have all seen enough of chuba to see the role he played under Carrick made him greater than the sum of his parts

I do sometimes wonder why i can see the obvious and football managers and coaches who get paid millions are assumed to just know better
if they played at a decent level or have uefa coaching badges

I mean, there a football manager doing quite well who got all his knowledge and understanding of the game from playing cham man

Liverpool playing Ziege in a flat back 4 after signing him based on performances for us at wing back and midfield.

Liverpool again playing Zenden at left wing based on his performances for us in centre mid.

Didn't Martin O'Neill try playing Juninho on the left of midfield at Celtic?

Ajax sold about 150m euros worth of players in the Summer, and spent about half that.

Always good to see a league's bully boys struggle.

See Brighton got beat. We got to the Final of this Competition and were hardly on the telly until the later stages. (n)

Was a good game that, I thought Brighton were going to walk all over them. Cracking header for the first as well.

It's funny when you look back at our run in Europe, the crowds were terrible, even when it came to the knockout rounds they weren't amazing.

I remember being at one of the group games, think it was Dinipro, in 05/06 with my secondary school and there must have been less than 15,000.

It's always been mad to me how low the crowds were, getting in to Europe was one of the biggest achievements in our history, you'd have thought people would flock to watch it.

I feel like it'd be different if it came around again, but social media has made it easier to create hype over it.

The crowds were great in our first European journey, fresh off the back of winning our first major trophy. 133,332 in total over 5 home games.

The fact we were struggling in the league the season we got to the UEFA Cup final might have been the reason for lower attendances, although not much lower with a total of 145,095 over 7 home games.

The crowd against Grazer AK in our first ever European knock-out match was 20,371.

In the next round, we had Sporting Lisbon and only managed 23,379.

That's not great, you can't even blame it on the opposition in the second instance as Sporting are a huge club.

Two games I remember going to as a kid:

12,953 in the Dinipro match I mentioned.

23,379 in the Sporting Lisbon game.

The Sporting one is particularly surprisingly giving it was the two legged knockout stages.
