Played at Stoke and put in the donkey work then, when Roberts and Watmore came on, he was taken off and Assombalonga came on. Roberts puts a perfect ball to Britt and he can’t control it. Would like to see us play Akpom with Roberts and Watmore tomorrow. We haven’t tried it yet.
 
Yeh I'd persist with Akpom rather than Brit. Although he has been doing as you said the donkey work, I'd like to see him move a little more into channels when we are on the front foot. Give the midfield some opportunities to play him in more. I just don't think he's doing enough of that. Maybe pairing him with Roberts can bring that out of him more
 
Johnson put in countless balls into the box on Saturday and Akpom was nowhere to be seen.

The question should really be would Britt have been somewhere near the end of those to miss them rather than akpom got no service!

IMHO Akpom never looks like scoring not because there isn’t any service but rather because he never gets in the box to have a chance in the first place.

Johnsons crosses were hit and hope, head down put a ball in, keepers every time, a good winger picks his striker out. Its as much the quality of cross or pass, if Akpom runs the channels theres no one to play him in.
 
Chuba is more mobile than Britt and occasionally heads the ball, but I can't remember him having a shot on goal since his first two games. So I looked up his stats. Shots per game 0.8 surely this is too high. Also 0 assists
Britt sometimes looks bothered sometimes does not. But at least he has shots 2.1
Even if some of them unluckily loop over the bar.
A CF that has shots is better than one who does not

same here, he’s not a balls into the box forward he needs some through balls or diagonals to run onto, or he needs someone nearer to him for abit of give and go and roberts is the best option for delivering that, Johnson blindly putting them balls into the box isn’t helpfuf and just gives possession away.

Johnson put countless balls into the box straight into the keepers hands he needed to bend balls away from keeper if Akpom was where the ball went he'd be offside
 
Wouldnt bother putting Akpom on the bench. Totally anonymous offers nothing. Doesn't score, doesnt hold the ball up, doesnt link up play. Centre backs dream. People just dont like Britt. I get hes frustrating but he scores goals.
 
Been disappointed with Akpom so far, I know it's still relatively early days with us but thought he would have contributed slightly more. He doesn't seem to get into good positions as much as Britt does, I think if he did, he'd have a higher conversion rare, though.

We've seen no evidence of that though.
He's scored a decent glancing header and a tap-in rebound in his first 2 games, I can't actually remember him having a shot on target beyond that in his 13 appearances.

I think he's performed worse than Assombalonga in virtually every game recently.
 
I think hes just here to make up the numbers because we were so light on strikers. He seems a decent pro with a good attitude but no real ability. We must of got a great deal with the club we signed him from and i doubt we’ll end up paying anything like 2.8 million. Watmore, Britt, and Roberts tonight. (He wont go for that tho). Teams have figured out. Our game plan of winning that second ball worked great but all you need to do is not try and press us, let us have the ball and hit is on the counter. Weve been caught out of position for most of the goals we’ve conceded lately and conceded about as much on the last 5 as we did in the previous 10

Johnson crosses were awful on saturday, all too straight and easy pickings for a very good young keeper.

Yeah they were poor crosses to be fair. Had no back spin on them just straight into the keeper.

What i did notice though, even if the crosses were a bit better Akpom was no where to be seen on any of them. He needs dropping
 
It seems with Ackpom that we bought him and want him to play a totally different role to what he’s used to playing. I said the same on another thread regarding Johnson’s crosses and the fact NW alluded to full backs doing wingers jobs.
 
I think the signing of Chuka is yet another example of us trying to fix the wrong problem, our goal scoring problems will not be rectified until we buy pacy wingers and utilise a ball carrying midfielder

no he doesn’t, well at least not many and he causes more play to break down than anyone.
