Chris Wilder's First Interview as Boro Manager

I heard quite a bit of Brummie as well! Wondered if he went to school there or has a parent from there or something, considering he’s as Sheffield as they come.

What I like about Wilder is that he’s, quietly, a much smarter coach than he lets on. He comes across as a gruff northerner so people think Sean Dyche, meat and potatoes, long balls, but then you watch his teams and they’re so progressive and different. A few managers (Bielsa and his bucket; Van Gaal) play up to that tortured philosopher thing but that Sheff United team were as different as Leeds were last season, and you can see why proper coaches like Pep and Klopp really rate Wilder. I like how his media persona downplays that.

I suspect our press conferences are about to get a lot more boring but our team to get a lot more exciting.

Was reading a bit about Alan Knill yesterday and have never paid much attention to him, but he comes very highly rated indeed as a tactics and coaching guy. Can’t wait to see how this pans out.

He does does appear to be a Warnock upgrade!
Bit like going from Now TV to Sky Q with movies, sports and Disney plus 🤣
He’s very honest, passionate beyond measure, smart and full of belief !
Great interview.
Looks like he understands our proud football club.
If we can get a team performing out there, my god….that stadium will be rocking like no other…
Up the boro….feeling incredibly optimistic!

Thanks for posting that @Cress enjoyed it. Thought he came across really well and he seems genuinely pleased to be here. Also a nice dry sense of humour too so the press conferences might not be too dull after all.

Also, got to love someone who listens to The Jam, he's got a decent eye for a band, let's hope he's got a decent eye for a player too.

I think he's a great appointment on paper and certainly the best Boro could attract. I'm not sure what his USP was with Sheff U but it worked well

Let's hope he's not just a one (club) hit wonder

Would be great to have Jam tracks belted out at the Riverside pre match.

He's been successful at 4 different clubs, not just one. Let's hope we are the fifth.
