Chris Wilder Press Conference at 4pm

Not via MFC. Amateur hour again (n)

They've uploaded it after the press conference has finished for well over a year now, it's nothing to do with amateur hour.
They give the local press a bit of a chance to release some content before doing so.

They used to broadcast it live on YouTube for years.
People just complained that they were missing bits or that it wasn't happening at the exact time it was announced.

Seems strange that the Gazette aren't running a live story/blog like they normally do. Also can't see any of the journo's live tweeting about what is being said. Guessing the club have asked them not to so they can release the video later.

I'm a bit disappointed though, I was hoping to listen or watch it live, as with previous managers.

Just finished now uncle rico - this minute - it is zoom so makes it harder to relay it live.
But yes he spoke for nearly an hour - with radio, tv, press. And me (lol) - talked of ambition, being competitive. Bringing excitement. He knows a lot about the division, the club, the team and the area but clearly wants to know more.
The whole conference was recorded - so not sure whether to transcribe my question and answer or not - as it will probably be broadcast before I finish.

Here we go: -

Fly: You have mentioned your ambition and how you want us to be competitive, consistent, you talked of the history here and wanting to take us forward again and aiming high. These sound like reasons for the fans to be excited..

CW: Well I am excited, so I would like to think that this appointment has gone down well. Listen there are always going to be people who possibly think in a different way. That is the beauty of football, that's the beauty of opinions from supporters. But I am coming here for a reason. My past track record hopefully gives the supporters optimism that I can take the club to where it wants to be. In a manner and a style that they will enjoy. And enjoy coming back.

It is tough times, especially in the north and we all know that but I know how much the supporters of Middlesbrough love their football and the area loves the football. It is not divided. It is not wanting to do different things. It is the big thing. It is the biggest sport. The football that they love. And hopefully we can put on and show them what we are all about and the supporters will get right behind, I am sure they will.

As much as we like a great through ball and a fantastic half volley and a Cruyff, we like a big header, we like a big tackle and we like people to be competitive. I think that is the area, that is the characteristics of the area, that the history of the players that we've talked about. (He mentioned Rioch team especially). And that's something that I want to bring to the football club.

That's great Rob, looking forward to the full write up. Exciting times!

He comes accross very knowledgeable and definitely makes me feel like he's going to be a decent appointment. The press seem very comfortable with him and seems to have a bit of banter with them.

I did smile when he gave the Warnock related question a very short shrift😂. I'm not sure if it's no love lost or just doesn't want to talk about former managers.

Clearly thinks it's a great opportunity. We are in a far better situation than he was at Sheff UTD. It's nice that he says you usually take over at a 'broken club' and Boro isn't.
