For those of you old enough, this board reminds me of Chorlton and the Wheelies.
The witch to be more precise, she used to pop up out of the floor, a bit like some posters pop up out of nowhere on this board when things aren’t going well.
Some are going to get excited, aren’t we entitled to an opinion, yada yada yada
Yes, of course you are.. but..at least balance that with some positive post when things are going well.
This player is finished
So n so is not good enough
My all time favourite, Downing is useless, this despite him being bought by Liverpool, Aston Villa mad being selected for England.
**** me, I wouldn’t want to be stuck in the trenches. with some of you, could just imagine it ‘we’re all gonna die’ ‘we’re doomed, might as well end it ourselves’
Is it an age thing? I remember when we were really shocking.

How weird is this!!!

I was in the shower this morning singing Right Said Fred and I was thinking about the video of the little men and it got me thinking about stop motion tv shows from my youth and Chorlton and the Wheelies came to mind. I was going to start a thread of classic children's tv show from your youth.

In fairness lots of people up and down the country criticised Downing. For whatever reason, he was just a bit of an easy target. Probably cos he didn't love tackling or going up for headers, I dunno.

I'm probably one of the more optimistic posters, but in all fairness, we are getting to the point where it hasn't been much worse than this aren't we? Certainly in terms of league position anyway.

I don’t know mate, I recall true despair at some points.

Well I suppose 1989/90 was bad, as we nearly went down (again). I know there were obvious dark days in the mid-80s and mid-60s (before my time). But I think a relegation dogfight in the second tier is as bad as its been in the last 30+ years, usually we manage to pull clear well before the end of the season. Hopefully that happens again.

This will be the longest spell we've been out of the top flight for 50 years.

The second longest was, of course, the last spell (ended by AK).

Couple of seasons before the resurgence under Ricoh were pretty dire.

True.

This season though, I can’t see how we turn it around with current squad. As I said in another thread, January will be a huge transfer window if we are to escape relegation this season.

So just to balance it as you say, shouldn’t you be posting something negative when things are going badly.

i think we can escape relegation but I’m increasingly convinced we need to change formation to suit the strengths we have. I’d definitely go 3 5 2. We’re strong at CB, Wing back, central midfield and have strikers who I think would benefit from playing in a partnership. It’s not my favourite formation but I think it would mean we’re stronger all over the pitch and a lot of the new players we’ve recently bought who are wingers would not be exposed to first team football before they are ready.
