Chatting like they're down the pub

The VAR guy England clearly forgets that the goal was given offside. He is under the impression the goal was given for some reason which is embarrassingly stupid. The Assistant VAR official should have spotted this but he’s obviously checking his fantasy team to see if he had any Spurs defenders.

The sooner voice is relayed the better, it would focus them on professionalism and attention to detail. Even when asked if they were ok with things immediately after play resumed, one guy hadn’t picked up on the error till asked again. I’d scrap it and look for root and branch change before reintroduction, far too lacksadaisy as Maddo would say.

I don't think I would scrap it but I do agree that they should be on a voice relay and as you say, it would make it more professional.

The trial at the women's world cup had the referee speaking live to the crowd when a VAR decision was made. Sort of explaining the thinking behind the decisions so the crowd were aware immediately. I wonder if that was made compulsory everywhere, all this would not have happened ? Maybe.
