Charlie Elphicke: Former Tory MP jailed for two years after being found guilty of three sexual assaults

Yet his wife remains an MP despite attempts to influence a judge to protect him from prosecution! That'll be the wife who got an OBE for services to housing. How anyone particularly a Toy can receive an OBE for 'housing' during a housing crisis of their own making is mind boggling.

I think this is really poor judgment from the Labour party. Yes a short term political gain but someone who's clearly in it for keeping herself in a job and already tainted with the scandal is an accident waiting to happen.

At least she's stepping down at the General Election, but Labour were using criticism of her in their campaigning literally a week ago.

It'll surprise a few on here but I don't want her anywhere near the Labour Party.

Nor do I.

I tell you what though, Starmer is absolutely ruthlessly going about his task of crushing the Tories and getting Labour elected.

The Conservatives are in trouble in every issue, the one area Sunak was hoping/banking on showing some daylight/difference is border control and immigration. Getting this defection from the Dover and Deal MP, citing being unable to trust him to handle these issues completely batters him. The timing of these two defections have been very well planned. Starmer and his team are listening very carefully to the likes of Mandelson, Blair, Campbell, Kinnock. One just before the local elections and highlighting the NHS issue, one just after the elections and just after the Rwanda bill is perfect. They are denying the Conservatives air to breather, let alone even a small breeze in the sails. They are dead in the water.

Labour are so disciplined whenever the Tories try to stoke up some culture war issue to try and scare their base and energize it, they simply refuse to be drawn.
