Changing your football team

Can see your point about good players BUT Sterling??🤔🤷‍♂️😕 REALLY?!!

Could be the most frustrating player I have ever seen… often forgets how to kick the ball, runs down blind alleys, can’t cross, passing not that great and poor finisher… but every now and then does something superb… a modern Matt ale Tissier
Matt Le Tissier was clsss!

Matt Le Tissier was clsss!

Prob didn’t explain myself very well… and Yes he was… one of my favourite players… but could do nothing for a whole game and then just out of know where pull something magic out of his hat 🎩..

Sterling sometimes looks like he has no idea what to do with a ball (Le Tiss never had this issue) but few mins later will do something brilliant and get an important goal ..

I was mates with a lad throughout secondary school and the first year of sixth form college. He was a boro fan. He went to boro games, his Grandad was a boro fan and he'd tell me about their conversations. We even started a boro forum together at one point.

We fell out over one thing or another and he's not really friends with any of the lads anymore, he's a nice lad but I don't think I've ever met anybody with less backbone. His missus supports Newcastle, she always has, even in school long before they got together she did.

He's now a fully fledged Newcastle United fan.

What the effin hell is all that about?

Routinely rinsed for it within group chats and if I ever have to endure his company again then I might be tempted to ask him why he did it?

For me, boro, end of. They're the only team that brings anger, joy, sadness, nervousness out of me. My partner says she can see how much it messes up my weekend if we lose, even if I don't mention it.

There's CCTV of a group of us lads out here watching Man Utd v PSG in the champions league a few years ago, they got that penalty from a Kimpembe handball and they all jump up and celebrate, hugging each other. I moved my pint to avoid it getting knocked over and barely moved an inch. (Did celebrate when they scored last Sunday though).

I go to Hanoi FC games because I like the atmosphere of a match day.

I have a huge soft spot for Darlo as my best mate when we were younger is absolutely die hard. We went to our first away game without our parents together, Darlo v Chester, got a lift from a random bloke from the Darlo board. Was a right laugh. The club also employs my Dad now so he keeps me well updated.

Subsequently went to Wembley with them, met my mates uncle who I get on with like a house on fire. Always try and do a Darlo game when I'm home because of how much I enjoy their company and loyalty to their team. It rubs off on me and I definitely will the ball in the net and join in with the celebrations but I don't feel anything for them or know what's happening with them most of the time.

Also played for their supporters club team in a men's league aged 15 which toughened me up and also put an early end to my knee.

I look out for Fiorentina results because I lived in Florence for a little while. Despite being told the locals were frosty, they took me in straight away after spotting me in my Batitustuta Nintendo shirt. Became close to them and I'm still in touch. Unfortunately my best mate their had a brain aneurysm last year and is now in a vegetative state. I cheer them on whenever I can in his memory.

Any feelings I have for other teams can usually be traced to strong feelings I have towards people in my life that support them and knowing that if they do well, those people will be happy too.

When I was 15 in 1972 patchpocket blazers were all the rage along with Brutus shirts and Levi Sta-press trousers and on the breast pocket of the blazer a footie badge usually was added. It was very common for this badge not to be of the team you supported but of another 2nd fav team usually from a higher league. I loved Dereck Dougan so mine was Wolves.... anyone else remember this?
