Carrick: The Future, Isaiah Jones and this winning run.

A small number of fans commented that Isaiah Jones was`nt up to the mark yesterday >>>>>>>>

Its worth noting Michael Carrick acknowledged the team were "half a yard short" at times - which will be remedied by up-tempo training - improving match fitness and focusing on endurance - so that players last the 90. Little Jonesy does put the odd pass astray, but he`s still a young man. with limited experience at this level of football.

He was a threat enough for Luton that they had two and three men around him at times. So much so, Luton could only stop him by constantly fouling him. That`s why that twit got sent off.

Yesterday we played 6.5 / 10 and still achieved the objective. Carrick said afterwards, he told the players [at half-time] to have belief and keep doing what they were doing. We improved in the second half - and Carrick`s substitutions proved perfect! It may have escaped some fans notice that Luton substituted four players and still did`nt make in-roads or create chances to put the game to bed.

At the moment we are the team that keeps achieving and improving game after game.
We are the third highest scorers in the Championship [!!!] behind Sheffield United and Burnley!

Considering Wilder`s easily forgetable 12 game start - we are seeing a turn round none of us expected. Lets face it - when we saw the games in front of Carrick after Preston, which of us would predict we would win four games, including three away (??!!) and draw one? This is the Boro, you know!We are watching a team that was in total disarray and looked certain to disappear down the plug-hole. We couldnt score. We couldnt defend and had no midfield!!

That away defeat at Reading was embarrassing and the way we handed three goals to QPR was a warning of what was to come. Coventry...well........

Now look! We`ve got cover in every position - but Michael Carrick has already hinted that he will be looking to improve the "quality" of the players at our disposal. It may-be telegraphing ahead, Carrick knows Manchester United inside-out and will be aware of those players who are chomping at the bit to get game time; the issue being that United "buy-in" players making it difficult for youth and home-grown players to break into the first team. He has contacts all over the game and will have leverage procuring players. [Not just from Man Utd either].

He commands great respect across the game and is upping his value and credibility every day he wears the Boro badge on his his chest.
We have`nt seen anything yet.

As for our Jonesy - he still looks like his legs would snap with a breeze of wind and has a long way to go. But he`s not the only one. Michael Carrick believes that "caring for my players" is a key part of his role. He might need a few more notches on his bed post, but so far he looks like he`s on his way, turning Prosecco into fine Boro Red Wine.

We turned a bit of a corner under Leo but that turn around has accelerated under Carrick. Early days still but hopefully it continues.

If we had started the season the way Carrick has, we would be on course for at least 80+ points. (y)

Lets not forget that Howson and Chuba are out of contract in the summer.
If we improve the "quality" of the team, it may mean some moving on - not just those currently out on loan?
It may be worth offering Chuba a new contract, but there are others [including loanees] who might find clubs elsewhere?
