Carrick post match comments have to be honest.

thought he struggled, did not sound like he really believe what he was saying I think he knows himself we are ***** but is not sure how to get out of it
I think that was what I was trying to say. I didn't feel like he was over positive. He showed he knows there's a big issue. But he didn't throw anyone under the bus.

He looked and sounded like a man under pressure.

He's a nicer and calmer man than Wilder, so he's not going to throw players under the bus, but it wasn't a particularly encouraging interview for me.
Can’t even bring myself to listen to it. I might do tomorrow when I calm down

There is an important difference between not throwing a player under the bus and praising a player who played so badly it was sad to watch. His choice of how to describe Silvera was bewildering. He has to be kept a long way from the team.

I don't want Carrick sacked. He needs help from a strong, experienced assistant. That person is not Woodgate.
A squad devoid of quality has been assembled. I'm not sure who would come in and wave a magic wand quickly over that lot.
I'd stick with Carrick. We've had new manager bounces with Warnock, Wilder and Carrick. It far from always happens.
The football he had us playing last season was some of the best I've seen us play for many years.
I think he deserves some backing.

We all read different things into interviews etc. Even when we hear the same words, we interpret based on our biases/knowledge.

FWIW I thought he sounded slightly ruffled for the first time (still calm by most standards though). He seemed mildly annoyed with the question about the comparison with last season, and I thought it came across as strange when he referenced the lack of patience in the game. No question, he is feeling the pressure.

I still think he will turn it around and the team will gradually improve over the season. Carrick is a smart guy and a good communicator. He will be a Premier League manager but this is a massive test. We need to reset expectations, scrap for 2 or 3 wins and go from there. Mid table (with the current squad) is acceptable, as long as the trajectory is upwards.
