Carrick coaching with Akpom, Rogers and Hackney

Carrick is obviously a very good coach, Changed a few things with Akpom which showed the player he can be, obviously sold, Rogers has improved massively under Carrick and is probably the player who excites me the most with his play, He will be sold which dissapoints me so much, Hayden will probably leave in the summer,
Carrick wants to develop players but they are being sold etc? Rogers has a 4 yr deal? Does the lad want to leave to sit and sit on a bench till next season at villa?

I think any player would take that after being at Blackpool on loan a year ago. Premier League on his CV, close to home and he's no stranger to moving out on loan if first team chances are too hard to come by.

The club will have to look at the financial reward of the sale: 20 years ago it was almost unheard of for us to sell someone for profit when we gave so many players their final pro contracts before retirement.

That can be tempered with going from Blackpool on loan to being part of a team pressing for promotion and being in the semi final of a domestic cup.

We took a punt on Rogers, I believe he should show greater patience than wanting to move 6 month into a 5 year contract.

Yeah me too
He had a disaster loan at Bournemouth, was supposed to be a year but was sent home at xmas but B. kept his registration so basically he did not play games for rest of season. The next season at ManCity there is no ref of him at any level right until Jan when M.Appleton went to Blackpool and said where is my noy Rogers hiding that did so well for me ta Lincoln. Man City brought him out of the shadows and said well he's here but not up to much so if you want a loan its fine by us. I swear if Appleton had not done that he could have spent another 6 months missing from football and been the start of a forgotten kid that once looked promising.

As far as I am aware he has never said that he "wants to move"? He has said that he would be excited to go to Villa, which given their position is understandable but has never expressed a desire to leave. Every player on our books is for sale (if the right/silly money is offered) we wait to see if Villa will bite. It is beginning to sound like they are at the limits of what they can afford (under the financial rules) so are having to resort to offering payments when future conditions are met. I'm happy that if the move doesn't happen, Rogers is still going to put 100% into playing for us and that should be good enough for anyone.

I'm positive he will and it's the least we should expect from professionals, especially young ones wanting to push on in their careers.

You can’t blame him for wanting the move, especially if he has been given assurances about being integrated into the first team squad. It will probably be at least 3x his current wages and it’s close to friends and family at the club he supports.

Wanting the move doesn’t mean he’s going to be a problem if it doesn’t happen though. A good attitude would mean he uses it as motivation to make clubs sit up and take notice with further improvements on the pitch. Sulking could well have the opposite effect.

TBF to MR, it's Villa & they are a massive club.. though I agree 5 months, finally playing some good football in a progressive team, I think he'd be best waiting until the summer & see if he can win a promotion.. or move then..

I also thought Tav would have been better staying & he's doing well, if in a - safe - team & playing to get a bigger move..

He came from Man City. Premier League as much on his CV as it will be at Villa. He's not going to be playing there for a while.
