CarPlay stopped working

I've never used CarPlay but are you using an official apple cable or mfi certified one at least? Or is it a Chinesium one?

Apple occasionally fudge non certified cables

I’m relying on the “it’ll just come back at some point” fix at the moment. Nothing seems to be fixing it.

Tried various cables and none work (when they all worked up until a few days ago) and only my daughters phone contacts via Bluetooth, neither mine or my sons will connect at all.

If I find a solution I’ll post it on here.

agree, I've had issues with leads over the years, especially in hire cars. seems no rhyme nor reason sometimes, but a good quality lead does fix it usually.

The leads can still function as a charger but for some reason the CarPlay side doesn’t always work or work for long , so you either need a proper Apple one or something approved .
I got my last one demo the ‘approved ‘ Apple Store in boro town centre

I suffer from this intermittently. It usually comes back on if I play something on Spotify (Or similar app) and start the car before plugging the cable into the phone. Sometimes have to drive for a couple of minutes before it fires up!

I will get a new cable as that seems to be a common theme. It worked fine with the cables I have until a few days ago, and the cables still work for charging.

Thanks for everyone’s input.

I had this with my Android thingy in the car. It was always a new lead needed. Crazy as it worked everywhere else, just stopped in the car.

This happens quite regularly for me but I spend half my week travelling for work so mine get hammered.

Replace the cable and it’s usually up and running again. Occasionally it’s just the charging port on the phone that needs a clean. Sometimes it’s fine for charging but too much dust in it for data transfer.

Use of Non-Apple Cables –iPhone charging cables made by third-party manufacturers may not work properly or eventually stop working due to Apple's iOS updates. This is done to ensure that only certified (MFi) cables are allowed to work.

MFI certification ensures the cables are built to handle the correct transfer rates and using the right build quality. Cheap cables and chargers can overload devices and cause them damage - although I'm sure a big part of it was apple wanting to generate licensing fees.

I usually go with Anker cables as they're a decent price, good build quality and mfi certified

New cable bought and it’s now working so this seems to be true.

The other cables did work until IOS was updated a few days ago.

Thanks for the advice.
