Always start high when suing. Let the other side negotiate downwards, rather than you start with a low figure yourself and then the other side negotiates down. It's like selling rugs in a middle east Souk. The rug seller does not really think that their rug is worth £2000. But he will eventually do you a deal for £200.
It might be nothing more than the Transfer fee plus a load of other made up figure for staying in the premier league, going on some cup runs and qualifying for Eruope etc. A lot of which would probably be quickly negotiated downwards by the other side.
