Car tax query.....

Car tax EXPIRES on Sunday 31 July. If I renew the next day on Monday 1 August is that OK?

I think, officially, I should either...
A) Renew before the end of July and lose a full month's money
Or
B) Declare the car as SORN for 1 August only. Then renew.

I suppose the question really boils down to... Should you renew the tax on the same day that it expires.

I'm getting conflicting advice so far.

Any help appreciated.
 
If you renew now i am sure it don’t start till the 1st of the month so won’t lose a month.

Also I have forgotten and just got a reminder in the post
 
I dont saee how you lose a months money, when you renew it maintains the anniversary IIRC
 
I can help here. Sign your car over to me on the last day of July. We can meet in a layby of your choosing . I'll take on the tax onus of duty due on 1st and give me a week or two and we can see how we go from there.

I once, completely accidentally, forgot to tax Mrs C's car for 2 weeks. The renewal notice still worked OK when I realised my error. But as others have mentioned there'll be no loss renewing early.
 
Theoretically the car would be uninsured on public roads after midnight until you renew (if I understand properly) so maybe best before your renewal
 
It's when you sell your car they have you 15 th July sell ,you have paid for the month no refund for july.
Tax new car you pay for July full month DVLA Win win.
 
There used to be a grace period of about 6 days - where you were still legal say till the 6th August.
