Well Patrick Minford was right when he said it would have too be run down if Brexit happened. He knew trade barriers would cripple the car industry just like many others. Ukraine is rich in Rare Earth minerals I read, hence the Russian invasion. Johnson's visiting may well be all about his future personal wealth.Not having enough working battery plants is an issue and concern for all European countries with vehicle manufacturing.
China is the biggest source of Rare Earth minerals by a big margin and I am told they are needed for the Vehicle Power batteries
Honda closed their only European plant in Swindon to consolidate production of their electric vehicles in Asia. It is disaapointing and does reduce our GDP.
I used to work in electronics in the 1980s and I would say over 80% of our electrionics industry has gone since then.
