Can somebody give me a balanced view on Trump?

If I was an American I would be pleased he's going to ban biological males competing
against biological females in sports .
And that he's intending to deport anyone who's entered the country illegally.
Er that's it.

Depends what you mean by balanced I suppose.

If someone is 90 per cent a bellend then hearing 90 per cent of stuff bad about him is "balanced".

A lot of his votes will have been anti-democrat rather than pro-Trump.

A lot of people are just ***ed off. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. Easier to blame the incumbent party and give them a kicking than vote for more of the same.

Also quite an effective tactic for the opposition to just place blame. It's human nature, when people are angry they want someone to blame, however misguided. Like brexit, many will probably come to regret it.

Labour are going to have the same problem at the next GE no matter how **** the tories are. It's a real worry.

A balanced view.

Trump is charismatic, he wants to make America a better country. He’s not particularly hawkish and has good relations with Putin so he’ll have a good chance of ending the conflict in the Ukraine.
He wants to control immigration and keep taxes low. He is pro-life and in America that is a big deal, even amongst women. He’s seen as a Christian and that counts for a lot too.

I can see why he was elected.

And there he was stood next to the huge statement "Trump will Fix it"
In plain sight.
Just like Jim was.

He will fix nothing but keeping himself out of jail.
The bromance with fellow narcissist Musk will last as long as a Gretna wedding.

I agree about this
And Labour were only 33 per cent to Reform 14 per cent - the momentum is extremely worrying, and complacency will only aid that
These things tend to go in cycles historically. Right wing populists offer appeal to the disillusioned public by promising the world .

Once these promises inevitably fail to materialise then the landscape changes again.

We are seeing this cycle in a lot of Europe right now.

But surely however millions of americans who voted for him aren't all stupid and brainwashed like most people think on here.

There's got to be reasons people have voted for him beyond the reasons claimed on here - I.E they are all brainwashed, racist, violent nutters

I saw a video a few months back where they interviewed a load of trump supporters at a rally and asked about specific Biden policies and they laid into it as dumb and not what Americans want.

Then they were told they were actually Trump policies

Ukraine is now screwed, half of it will be ceded to Russia, import tariffs will mean a hit to the UK economy similar to Brexit, the US supreme court have ratified that anything he does in the course of his duties as president is immune from prosecution, the situation in the middle east will now get worse with him propping up Netanyahu and continuing the war meaning thousands more civilians will die.

And you want balance?

Sounds like you love him you! ;) 😁

Google the Abraham Accords.

(If you can't be bothered googling):

Brokered by Donald Trump, the Abraham Accords were a major breakthrough in the Middle East peace process. They signaled a new era of cooperation and diplomacy in a region that had been plagued by conflict for decades. The agreements have the potential to bring greater stability, prosperity, and security to the region.

I think it comes down to those with power seeing movement towards losing power and he represents "the good old days".

Similar to Brexit
Similar to the way people talk about football in the 80s

It is "the outsiders" have ruined the way we have done things.

The US was founded on being anti-government. For some reason Trump gets away with being "anti-establishment" despite being an aging white male billionaire.

It is a sad day that for the second time we have a man who was recorded boasting about grabbing women (clear boasting he could get away sexual harrassment) in power of a powerful nation. But I honestly think this is because the majority of American men think a bit of groping should be accepted as "banter".

Blame immigrants, blame "woke" (the idea of progressive change in the social make up of society), say everyone else lies.

Regards propping up Netanyahu, I'm not so sure. I'ld say one thing he will not do is ever put boots on the ground. That may make Israel think twice about an ever expanding geographical conflict.

He is many many (bad things) but he is not, based on his first 4 years, a hawk.
