Can somebody give me a balanced view on Trump?

I'm seeing nothing but negativity - and i'm guessing in a lot of cases it's justified from some stuff ive read.

Rather shameful i know.....but i don't care much for politics, even in the UK.

But im seeing absolutely nothing but major negativity around Trump everywhere i look. Can somebody who is not completely against him (if anyone like that even exists on this board), give a clueless man like me the PROS and CONS of the next 4 years?

I'm not fishing for arguments, i just want to try and get a balanced view instead of all the bad stuff. Sure they'll be some benefits of him being president?

Rich people will get richer

Try asking for a balanced view on Jimmy Saville and see what replies you get.
Trump is an abhorrent being and the very fact that huge amounts of Americans would rather vote for him than for a black woman tells you all you need to know about them.

But surely however millions of americans who voted for him aren't all stupid and brainwashed like most people think on here.

There's got to be reasons people have voted for him beyond the reasons claimed on here - I.E they are all brainwashed, racist, violent nutters

I think my response was pretty balanced tbh. He does dislike immigration, and won't take away gun freedoms. He stands against wokism, and prioritises 'American people' above all else. That's what lots of Americans want.

Not sure if any of this is positive as it would depend on where you are on the political spectrum but here are things he did last time around,

I think the late Janey Godley had the best summary

The replies are making me giggle but im still awaiting an unbaised respose :ROFLMAO:

He is a deeply flawed but charismatic gangster who manages to take advantage of the ignorance and naivety of an electorate that politicians have long taken advantage of, and taken for granted. With the help of a huge misinformation network and the likes of Putin, he has successfully sewn distrust in institutions and more generally the truth and reality. He has convinced fed up, decent, but not very bright people that up is down and left is right and he will use his newly gained powers to remove any of the things, be it people or mechanisms of government, that reigned him in last time. He is a narcissist who serves only himself and the interests of his family. Perversely, his winning might hasten a time where politicians stop taking the people they serve for granted as the discussion around ‘how can this happen’ begins, and a new era of politician may emerge but it will most certainly require one step backwards and a period of global instability and turmoil and pain before things can move forwards. That’s if there is anything left after he’s done, given his climate denialism and simple lack of giving a **** about anyone or anything.
He is incredibly politically astute in terms of knowing what buttons to press but he is simultaneously a lazy, unintelligent convicted felon.
He likes golf, cheeseburgers, property and rape.

You’re asking for a balanced viewpoint on somebody that is extreme - a lot of Americans believe too extreme.

That in itself means opinions around Trump are very imbalanced as his whole approach is based on division and making people suspicious of their neighbours.

You’re either a supporter or your “The Enemy” (Trumps words). You either love or hate him. He’s divisive and that’s his strategy.

I’m not going to lose sleep over his election even though it wasn’t the result I wanted. We need to see how it plays out. We can’t control anything and we’re never in a position to influence of course. I don’t believe in worrying about things you can’t control.

It’ll be interesting (for the lack of a better word) watching over the coming months, but I don’t think it’s a good day for Europe or the Western world in general. We’ll see how it pans out. Hopefully better than expectations.

He's a populist ie he tells people what they want to hear, without real intention or plans to deliver.

Supporters will say he'll be good for the economy (he won't be any more than Biden), he'll put America first (he will, but at what cost to the rest of the world eg Ukraine), he'll stop immigration (he won't, of course) and generally return America to the great nation it once was (which is a fallacy and the same misguided notion that made Brexiteers believe in a Britain of old that never existed).

The worry this time around is that there isn't a government around him that will check his behaviours and decision making.

I'd guess he try to remain in power, by whatever means necessary, in four years time, if he lives that long, and in any event there will be widespread bloodshed.

He dislikes immigration, wokism, and likes guns, and lots of Americans agree.
I think this sums it up well.

I personally agree with the majority posting on here about how ridiculous / crooked / unbalanced / dangerous an individual he is. He will create havoc and I’m fearful about how things will turn out.

But he gets plenty of voters because of basic policies. You’ll always get the zealots who support him whatever nonsense he says (scary folks). But I suspect that most of the people who voted for him take him with a pinch of salt - maybe would even prefer a different leader - but the fundamental policies he stands for are what they want to hear.
