Calmness on the ball

Whilst our cutting edge wasn't quite there yesterday the one thing that gives me confidence for Wed night was how comfortable we were on the ball. Despite the occasion there was no panicking and everyone was showing for the ball even in tight difficult positions.

I know this is how we have played all season so it shouldn't be a surprise but it was just good to see that the players weren't overawed and still had that calmness and confidence in such a big occasion. Carrick must take all the credit for this. His calmness has filtered down to the whole team and must put all the players at ease.

Roll on Wed night. Can't wait.

Agree. If we'd taken one of the chances we had then it would've been a perfect away leg perfromance.

Fixed that for you

There were a few times where we seemed to be pinned into the corners and we simply played our way out of it. It looked fantastic but got no credit for it from the commentary team.

If we can rediscover that killer edge at the other end and play with the same composure across the pitch then we're going up.

There was one occasion where Coventry were well on top, the commentators were getting excited, they were closing and chasing everything on the edge of our box and we played our way out of trouble with dozens of short, first time passes to players who had barely any space around them, while the Coventry players were running round in circles, increasingly chasing shadows. Was an incredible passage of play, such high tempo, incredible confidence in each other. I was just sat shouting ‘**** me, this is brilliant football!’ at the tv.
And the commentators said absolutely nothing about it.

Yes, I know the exact spell you're talking about and thought the same. Not the sort of thing you'd expect them to be able to keep up for long under such intense pressure, but it really was next level stuff.

Watched Brighton do the same to Arsenal later on the same day. Good company to be in.
