I remember going there in the mid seventies. I used to think it was a brilliant place but my mam said that the chalets were horrible and she spent the first few hours cleaning it up to make it habitable. Obviously as a young kid I didn't see any of that. All i saw were the good things, the underwater restaurant, monorail, funfair and the shows. I remember stopping off at the Three Jolly Sailors on tha A173 for fish and chips to "break up the journey". Even thought we were only going from Boro.

Spent a good few summers there in the late 70s early 80s always loved it

Didn’t think Filey had a monorail? Skeggy did. Great holidays for kids. Open chalet door, dump bags and we were off. Out for hours, didn’t come back till tea time, never noticed the chalet. I’m having to watch Hi de Hi to see how Butlins looked.

The big annual day out with North Ormesby workies. We were like a plague of locusts with our bag of sweets and 5 shilling.

Yep, went there about 5-6 years running when I was a kid and loved every minute. A FREE amusement park - what's not to love?!
