British Road Race Championship Saltburn on...

Thanks for the link, get to see home while I'm away, looks like the race could get exciting if the weather forecast is correct. Looks like it's about to hammer down.

It's a bit greyish now. I watched the lasses earlier, most of it. Was bright and sunny so good pictures of the route . The way the sun reflected off the Brotton town name plate was simply stunning :)

Spent most of the day down there, plus the circuit races in Redcar on Friday night, some fit lads and lasses competing. Just watching the last part back at home.

Brilliant to watch it in the flesh, Tour De France due to come back to Britain in 2026, it would be fantastic to have it back in our area again 🚴

It was great to have such a prestigious event in our area. I rode there and got a bit wet, but it was worth it. I only saw the men's race and they were fast. I rode up Saltburn Bank on my way back home, good grief, they did it 10 times. Very fit lads.
All in all a good day out.

I used to live in the middle of the course at New Skelton many decades ago. I'd cycle to Marton Shops to meet up with Cleveland Wheelers, go on the club ride and then cycle home. If i was only 10% as fit as that today I'd be over the moon.

Not even a mention on local news tonight, 🤬
Imagine what it was like over 50 years ago when I started following the sport. You had to wait til the comic (Cycling Weekly) came out on the wednesday to get race reports/results from the week before of all races including the Tour de France. There was no chance of watching any racing (except live or rarely in the cinema) until VHS machines were invented and then you might get something in your Christmas stocking.
