In actual fact the statue could face the same problems at the stadium. There is no evidence that anyone has purposefully tried fo damage it.
Having asked various council officers and councillors they are trying to resolve how to ensure once repaired it doesn't then break again. It isn't straightforward. If it was at the stadium someone lean on it then it might fracture again. Then who would pay for the repair.

It probably results from a design flaw with the small base which hopefully could be attended to (i.e. fix the flaw and leave the statue in Albert Park where it belongs).

Wishful thinking on my part perhaps, but I‘d also like to see consideration being given for new statues (for Camsell and Cloughie at the least) to further acknowledge the long history of the club and enhance the attractiveness of The Riverside.

No problems - only solutions Rob.
It looks particularly vulnerable in the park.
Its clearly not satisfactory sitting behind a fence.
Perhaps mounted on a plinth outside the Riverside would be safer and more appropriate?
If there is concern about cost of repairs - Im sure crowd-funding would be able to raise necessary pennies.

Yes, that is exactly what happened the last time it was fixed, the statue was placed on a new base that supports the raised foot. So, it should not have cracked again. It is a really popular attraction at Albert Parl, or was. And that park is itself a really popular park in the heart of Middlesbrough. There is a phone trail around the park including the statue and a walk from Cloughie's house in Valley Road. I was hoping to really work on the guided walks over the next few months in the park with Ayresome Park etc and all our former grounds. There is real potential as we have glimpsed from turn outs whenever we do guided Boro walks. We could take people around on match days. We have done it before, successfully.

But it clearly cant go back in the park if there are concerns about its fragility and potential risk of harm to park users.
It will be much safer at the Riverside, surely?
